The Toshiba HD-XA1 player has been out for sale in Japan since 31/03 and it is shipping with 2 titles included (only until 28/04).

They are Bioharzard (Resident Evil) and Moonlight Jellyfish. From what I read, there are no region codes. And the irony of it is that Resident is actually a Sony distributed title almost everywhere in the world.

It can be ordered from amazon Japan for about US$ 809,00.

Has anyone seen it already? Or maybe has any info on image/audio quality of these first titles?

I've posted this info on the big thread, but since I haven't seen anything about it here on HTF, I thought it deserved a thread of its own.
Support the use of seamless branching on Sony BDs to always present the original theatrical cut along with the extended/alternate versions

$809?

That's a pretty big price increase just to get one a couple weeks early. By the time it got here on regular shipping, the US ones would probably be released. That's if this April 18th date holds.

Was checking the star reviews. Not very stellar for a hot item. Wondering what they say overall as I don't understand the language.

Kind of disappointed, but confused at the same time. Need to know what the reviews say. But, a 3 out of 5 overall isn't too hot for an Amazon rating.

I still hope our stores put some on display soon. I haven't seen any yet.

Retailers are reporting stock scheduled to arrive in the next 48 hours and shipping to arrive around the 18th. So unless something unexpected happens, many of us will be enjoying HD resolution dvd's next week.

It's looking good. I'm checking with my local Best Buy every day.

I've just read over at AVS that at least one retailer is getting his stock of players tomorrow, 4/15 and software by Tuesday.

My player and movies are both due on my doorstep on 4/20, that is, unless I find them on a store shelf sooner.
