I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this question, but does anyone out there know if Rhino plans on releasing anymore soundtracks from the MGM archives (owned by Turner)? There's still a wealth of unreleased material of soundtrack prerecordings in the vaults. If George Feltenstein subscribes to HTF, maybe he might shed some light on this.

Some examples are:

High Society (some tracks are available on the Sinatra and Armstrong sets).

Deep in my Heart

Words and Music

Meet Me in Las Vegas

'Till the Clouds Roll By

Thanks

I believe the soundtrack to High Society is owned by EMI/Capital as that was Sinatra's record label in the 50's. It has been available as an import from England as a part of a 3 soundtrack set which included Can Can and Pal Joey.
Therefore I would guess that Rhino would not have the rights unless they licensed it as they did some tracks for the Sinatra in Hollywood box set a few years ago.

There is also Rhino handmade which has some MGM soundtracks not available in stores as limited editions . Some of the soundtracks available there are

Three Little Words -
Du Barry Was A Lady -
Lovely To Look At -
Broadway Melody Of 1940 -
Gay Purr-ee -
Born To Dance -
Royal Wedding -
Good News -
Best Foot Forward -
The Pirate -
It's Always Fair Weather -
The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre -
Ivanhoe -
Athena -
Bad Day At Black Rock -
Summer Stock / In The Good Old Summertime -
The 4 Horsemen Of The Apocalypse -

Rhino is re-releasing the That's Entertainment box set with a whole disc full of material never before released, as well as upgraded sound on some of the other tracks. I believe it is due on April 25, after a really long wait since it was originally announced.

Drew, I really want Deep in my Heart, Words and Music and especially Till the Clouds Roll By as well, so George Feltenstein if you are out there please release them!

I have the box set as well as all of the Rhino Handmade releases. I'm not sure if the new That's Entertainment box will be worth a double dip; the one released in the 90's was very comprehensive and included virtually all of the musical sequences uncut and from the original prerecordings (many in true stereo from the multiple stems and angles). It also included a bonus disc with previously unreleased material.

Quite a few of the original tracks from the previous TE set have been "sonically upgraded" from the original masters, and the following is the content of the 6th disc - I also have the original set, but will be getting this one too (sad, ain't I?)I know this isn't really on topic for this forum, but thought readers might be interested.
