Heh, we overshot a bit on the Forties list so I guess we'll take it to 25 films apiece.

Seconding:

30s: Freaks and Grand Illusion

40s: Day of Wrath and The Shop Around the Corner

We need four more films for the thirties and two more for the forties. Feel free to second what you can. Posted Image

And that finishes it up. Actually I took the liberty of taking it up to 30 films per list by throwing in the following films: The Lives of a Bengal Lancer, 42nd Street, Gone With the Wind, The Testament of Dr. Mabuse, The 39 Steps (30s) and The Bicycle Thief, The Big Sleep, How Green Was My Valley, Yankee Doodle Dandy (40s). First brackets up in a minute...

The Maltese Falcon Brief Encounter There are certainly some films in this tourney that I don't like, but at least there aren't any I haven't seen, so I won't have to abstain, which is nice.

The Maltese Falcon
Abstain

As much as I love The Roaring Twenties, it was too hard for me to vote against the quintessential noir film (and one of Bogart's best performances to boot).

Both of the films in the second match-up interest me, but I haven't seen either one.

and the forties kick ass in round one with great films against two good ones, easy on this round, though I dread some of the eventual matchups. Maltese Falcon Brief Encounter

Round 1 - Bracket 4
