I don't know how widespread this is, but my local Best Buy had nearly the entire Superbit catalog mispriced at $9.99 when I was there yesterday. They had to do a price correction at the register to honor the price, but every copy was priced this way, properly labeled with the title and their number for that title.

The titles I remember seeing:
Air Force One
Charlie's Angels
Knight's Tale
Mask of Zorro
Patriot
S.W.A.T.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
XXX
Men In Black (I and II)
Gattaca
Heavy Metal

Ones I checked which were regular price
LAwrence of Arabia
Black Hawk Down

It appears all the Superbits are now $9.99 at bestbuy.com. I didn't check all of them, but a random sampling showed this to be true after seeing a post at DVDTalk that mentioned it.

May have to check out BB for a few more.

All I can figure is that Universal, in all their marketing genius have decided to dump the Superbit line. I know in recent releases, such as the "Ultimate Editions" of The Fifth Element and Leon, they are actually the old Superbits with a second disc of extras.

No doubt, a plan to con people into buying yet another copy of the same movie.

Went over to my local BB to check out the SB sale, most titles I found were on sale (even LoA).

Think these price reductions are permanent, but decided (at length) to not repurchase any titles on SB.

I've been following the 'SB Saga' with a bit of jaded interest over the years.

I have about 35 titles, which in theory, could be upgraded to SB.

Desperado apparently got a whole new transfer and looks better.

Heavy Metal is apparently also noticeably better and LoA got corrected color.

Other titles like Air Force One & Gattaca dropped FS but with the added load of DTS, it's a wash for PQ.

But for me, SB is 'too little, too late'. Assuming the market feels the same way, hence the sale.

Within a year or two, I will have the option to repurchase these titles again with more dramatic A/V improvements and no mandatory loss of extras.

This is the dilemma that I'm in. I was an avid buyer of superbits over the years, double-dipping to squeeze out that extra level of picture and sound quality. But, many of these movies appeared on high-def HBO, and as you mention, in the next year or so, there is a great chance that nearly all of these movies will appear on Blu-Ray and will be viewable on a sub-$400 Playstation 3.

I was looking to get Black Hawk Down SB, but it was priced at $20.99. This was last week. I was wondering if anyone saw it priced at $9.99.

Went to my local BB (Totawa, NJ) at lunch today and there was a limited amount of superbit titles available. Also checked online and Vertical Limit was STILL listed at full price!

At the Rockville MD store, Hollow Man, Riverdance, and Vertical Limit were stickered at $9.99 but rang up at $24.99. No problems getting the price adjusted either.

Went to Best Buy yesterday and bought Black Hawk Down and Vertical Limit. Both were stickered at $9.99. Going back today to see if Starship Troopers is available.

I found about a third of the SB's on hand weren't marked down: Spidey 2, SWAT, LoA, MiB II. Still got Dracula, Gattaca and Black Hawk Down (already had the 3-disc set, but just couldn't pass it up!).
