In order of merit: 1.Gilda (1946) **** 2.The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932; replaced by Charles Brabin) *** 3.Love Me or Leave Me (1955) *** 4.Hans Christian Andersen (1952) **1/2 5.The Swan (1956) **1/2 6.A Farewell to Arms (1957) ** I'm sure I had rented A SONG TO REMEMBER (1945) on VHS but, for the life of me, I can't remember [sic] if I watched the damn thing or not!! Of his other films, I'm especially interested in watching BLIND ALLEY (1939) and LADIES IN RETIREMENT (1941).

His movies look better but have less soul than those of his surname sake the far greater King Vidor. The Swan was terrible, only for Grace Kelly completists. Gilda I really loved; I love those kind of closet sex flicks. Rita is sumptuous in this. I never forget her entrance where she dances up into the frame, and her big number, great song... Can't recall it though.
