TV Shows You've Bought but Won't Complete (1 Viewer)

-Stargate SG-1: I have collected seasons 1-4; I only actually think the first three seasons were consistantly very good. To me, the show lost the something that made it click in the fourth season, and I lost interest. I wouldn't mind the first part of the fifth season, but I don't want the full season. I want nothing to do with SG1 after Wormhole Extreme.

Wonderwoman - have season 1, just can't get into it.

Ren & Stimpy - have season 1 and 1/2, it isn't what I remembered it to be.

King of the Hill - bought season1 for $19.99, Peggy gets on my nerves and Hank needs some viagra.

All of these were blind buys for me with the noted exceptions.

The Sopranos: Loved the first three seasons. Decided when S4 came out that I didn't want to pay that hefty price any more but won a free copy of it in a forum giveaway. Have absolutely no plans to buy S5, again because of the price and because I just feel like I've seen what I need to see of this show.

Alias: Loved S1, liked S2 a lot, S3 was a chore, and now I don't really care to see any more.

Oz: Loved S1, thought S2 was trite and silly.

La Femme Nikita: Liked S1 a lot, got it for like $5 for joining Columbia House. But it's too expensive to continue with it, even with DDD's 20% off.

The West Wing: Had heard all the buzz, bought S1, liked it but not enough to rush out and get S2. I do have S2 on the way now, through DDD's sale. But I doubt I'll go too far with it.

Seinfeld: Of course, this wasn't a blind buy, though I have only seen it occasionally over the years. Bought the S1/S2 box. But I just can't get involved in half-hour sitcoms, even one as great as this.

Moonlighting: It's on the way from DDD along with WW2. I watched this every week when it aired, and I just couldn't resist. But I doubt that I'll get past S2 with it.

Xena: Bought S1 blind, hated it, E-bayed it.

Northern Exposure - I had a coupon at Buy.com and bought the first season. I wasn't into the show enough to pay Universal's price for season 2. I would've probably continued buying them had season 2 been sold at season 3's price per episode.

The A-Team - I had seen too few episodes for this to hold much nostalgic value for me.

Xena - bought blind, E-Bayed it as well.

Dawson's Creek - Still bit the bullet after the theme song change, but couldn't handle cut scenes. Honestly, the cut scenes just made the decision easier - it may be hard for me to stop being the completist I am, but that would have been the only reason I bought seasons 5 and 6.

Penn & Teller Bullshit - I didn't enjoy the first season as much as I thought I would.

This doesn't really count now, but I HAD stopped buying King of the Hill (love the show, but I have yet to watch most of seasons 1 through 3), That 70's Show, The Sopranos (due to price), and Six Feet Under (due to price). However, thanks to DDD's sale last week, they've all been kept alive.

M*A*S*H -- stopped after Season 6, when Alan Alda's political views really start to take over the show.

Married With Children -- only bought the first season.

Simpsons -- Will probably stop after Season 8

Silk Stalkings -- not sure how many more I will get. This show has not aged well with me... Season 2 had too many clunkers for my taste.

Northern Exposure -- will stop when the Joel Fleishman character leaves the show.

The Andy Griffith Show-I am only interested in the Black & White episodes. The colored ones suck big time.

227- Only interested in the first two seasons. The later ones were awful.

All In The Family- only interested in the first five or so years.

Mork & Mindy- I have the first season and thats the only one that was any good.

Petticoat Junction- If they ever release season sets I am only interested in the episodes with Bea Benaderet. The later ones are really sad. I will buy the set coming out in August.

The Beverly Hillbillies- Not much interested in seasons 6-9, assuming they ever release them. They were starting to get tired by then. I will buy the set coming in September.

In Living Color- Only as long as Keenan was in it. They sucked after he left.

The Doris Day Show- Really only want seasons 3-5 but will buy the first two to encourage their release.

Married With Children- only the ones with Marcy's first husband in them. The later ones got too ridiculous.

Bewitched- am undecided about the Dick Sargent episodes. Nothing against him, but it WAS getting old by that time.

Mr. Ed- bought the first two, but dont seen any reason to go any further with it.

The Flintstones- only the first four seasons. They were the funniest.

The Avengers- only want the Mrs. Peel and Tara King episodes. Dont much like the earlier ones. (some of the final Tara King series are pushing it, but a few of them were decent)

Here's Lucy- bought it thinking I would enjoy it, but I think I was remembering with my heart and not my head, because they just arent very funny. I wont buy any more (assuming they ever release any more). I DO wish they would release the Lucy show. (At least the episodes with Vivian Vance.......)

I may stop collecting Cheers after I pick up the 5th season. The Sam and Diane years were the best.

All in the Family up until Mike and Gloria leave.

Moonlighting probably up to the dreaded Dave and Maddie hook-up.

Not sure about The Simpsons. But have you seen the new boxset? Not exactly gonna fit in with the others!

Sliders - The show jumped the shark bigtime after seasons 1 and 2. Universal may have miscalculated when they priced S3 above the combined S1+S2 set. I think a lot of people will know when to stop.

The Andy Griffith Show - Like many others, I plan to not buy the color seasons simply for the fact that after Don Knotts left, the show wasn't nearly as funny any more.

Cheers - I'm probably going to pick and choose until the show gets to 1990, where many of my favorite episodes begin.

Pokemon - I'm most likely going to avoid most of Season 2 and 3 in order to focus on the excellent episodes from Seasons 6 and 7.

Yeah, Ric, I have seen the packaging for the
Simpsons season 6, and like I said in that thread,
the packaging sucks big time. I had no intention of buying
all of the seasons of The Simpsons anyway, but now I
will stop at season 5. Thank you, FOX, for saving some
money for me.

I agree with Scott about M*A*S*H. I'll still complete
the collection of shows, but the series went downhill
after the 7th season. Too political, and the writing
got really silly and corny at times.

The only series I've started and don't plan to complete is Quantum Leap -- I only have (and only PLAN to have) Season 1. My decision, however, has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the show itself, and EVERYTHING to do with the extensive music replacements in Seasons 2 and 3.

Survivor- Bought the first season and enjoyed it, but it isint eaisly rewatchable, and it will cost too much since there is already 10 seasons with 2 being produced a year!

Garfield & Friends- Don't like the show anymore(have Volume 1).

Malcolm in the Middle- if future seasons are released i probaly will stop at 3 or 4 since thats when it started sucking.

Avengers - I don't care much for the Tara King episodes (although I actually like the Cathy Gale episodes - they have a very creepy, noir-ish quality about them)

And once this show comes out on DVD, I'll only get the first 3 seasons of Mission: Impossible. The show pretty much jumped the shark after Bruce Geller and the Landaus left.

Not sure if you stuck with it, but I thought this last season was it's best. I didn't particularly love seasons 3, 4, or 5. I didn't even watch every season 5 episode. They were just getting to be a chore to sit through sometimes. But, they definitely turned things around for me in season 6. It only took them 5 years to figure out that the Francis "B" stories brought the show to a grinding halt each week (although, I didn't mind the military school setting in the first season). I was so relieved that they were finally gone.

I found some more that tv sets I stopped getting -

Friends - I've got seasons 1-8 and stopped. I wouldn't mind having the last two, just to have a complete set, but I already own 3 seasons more than I thought were actually solid.

In Living Color - didn't get the third set.

When the first seasons of ER, cheers and Frasier came out, there weren't very many other shows out that I liked, so I had planned on collecting the entire series of those shows. BUt since then, so many others have come out, I've dropped them from my list, and haven't gotten any more seasons of all 3.

Who's the Boss?, I have the first season and don't really know if I'll get every season or not, if more seasons come out of course.

Survivor, I haven't really stopped collecting, but I won't be buying every season, just the ones I liked.

The Andy Griffith Show. After Barney exits after season 5 I'm done.

The Cosby Show - no plans to get the last two seasons

A Different World - only want season 1

Mork And Mindy - heard enough bad about the other seasons I dunno if I want them, I will still at least check 2 out because I loved season 1
