I had a tech explain it to me but I think he has it a little wrong.

This is what I have so far and everything works but I am having trouble adding the dvd?

Time Warner HD box -> (component) to Onkyo receiver

Onkyo Receiver -> (component) to Infocus projector

I was told to run the dvd with an s video or composite but I am thinking I should run it with a component cable.

Can anyone tell me how to hook up the dvd player to the Onkyo so I can get a good picture AND full 5.1 sound?

Thanks!

yep.. DVD Player using component also to the AVR. Optical to the AVR for sound.

If you have a progressive scan DVD player, try it with Progressive and straight 480i out the component video if you player allows it.

I see no reason to fall back to svideo and/or composite.

Okay, thanks John.

I'll get a component cable and a digital cable today and run them both from the dvd to the receiver.

Sounds easy but I will find a way to screw it up. Posted Image

Yor solution is much nicer that what I have. The only switching between sources you will need to do is with the Onkyo receiver.

My DVD only has S-video so I have to switch both the receiver and my 4805.

Have you had the 4805 long? What an awesome PJ for the price.
I've had mine since December 2004.

I got it a couple months ago but just got it hooked up to HD channels. Yes, the picture is awesome!

Now I just need to get the DVD player hooked up with some sound for some movies.
