He will very likely be the only director on the list I've met in person since I've only met 2.

Actually I wasn't counting McKellar or Girard since one I was just in the same room with but never went up to and the other I just shook hands and said something congratulatoy and he just said thanks.
I was counting David Tausik who's on the Beaver listserv. That's a much rarer meeting for a non-festival goer. Meeting a director when you've never seen one of their films. But I can say I've been to a director's house and watched Eraserhead with them.
I was also in a monster toy store in LA when Frank Darabont walked in, but I was busy freaking out over Godzilla toys and didn't even notice. After we left one of the people I was with said "Did you notice Frank Darabont walked in?". No, gee thanks for telling me. Of course, it's not like I would have gone up and talked to him anyway.
