I've yet to add most of Fuller's films released on DVD to my collection: HOUSE OF BAMBOO, FORTY GUNS (1957), SHOCK CORRIDOR/THE NAKED KISS (the R2 edition), THE BIG RED ONE - THE RECONSTRUCTION (1980/04) and STREET OF NO RETURN - and would love to watch several others, particularly THE STEEL HELMET (1951), RUN OF THE ARROW (1957) and UNDERWORLD U.S.A. (1961).

However, I need to work out on all the ones I've already watched as well since all but MERRILL'S MARAUDERS and SHOCK CORRIDOR have only got one viewing each out of me so far:frowning:!

I'm sure I've seen more of Sam Fuller's films, just can't remember them, not a fan but I quite liked Hell and High Water for some strange reason.

Watched the re-edited, restored and reconstructed The Big Red One recently and loved it.

I really enjoy his writing style, but I think at times he's in too big a hurry to get to the action. Forty Guns in particular could have been improved with 1-2 additional scenes to flesh out certain characters and interactions.

Horrible director, one of my most despised. He either makes complete and utter garbage like Shock Corridor, horrendously bad melodramatic soap opera crap like The Naked Kiss, or ruins what could have actually been a decent film like Pickup on South Street by filling it with right-wing paranoid anti-communist propaganda.
