The Weekly RoundUp

The Features

Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual. But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you. I mean, it's not just the uniform. It's the stories that you tell.

(DF) listed after a title = new MGM Double Feature release.

The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

The Appeal

If you’re a fan of the Weekly RoundUp…or like talking with other HT enthusiasts about your hobby and the latest new releases, PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE HOME THEATER FORUM!!!

Operating the HTF is not free for Parker and Ron. That is why there is advertising throughout the forum and there has been the occasional membership fund drive. And there is a way for you to help…FREE OF CHARGE!

If you would simply link to the Portal Page when you start your visits to the HTF, that act alone would bring revenue to the forum. While it would also be nice if you wanted to click on some of the advertisers’ links and check out their deals and sales (that form of “window shopping” would bring even more revenue to the forum), the simple act of landing on the Portal Page registers a “hit” or “impression” that creates revenue for the HTF.

So, if you’ve been “sneaking in” to the HTF through links to your favorite thread or forum, please help out by taking an extra second of your time and landing first on the HTF Portal Page. Thank you!

Interesting, we actually picked this up at best buy last week. Not sure where my wife put it, so I can't report any interesting coupons, but I do recall that there were at least a couple for some of the releases this week. (The various SE's that came out this week like father of the bride, gone in sixty seconds, etc I vaguely recall had a coupon). Labyrinth and Dark Crystal collector sets had a coupon. Can't remember anything else.

Big week this week for me, too much effort to figure out exactly what right now Posted Image.

Thanks Mike, and let's not forget to thank Patrick, who always seems to get overlooked.

Thanks for the usual great job Mike. I've got Dragnet '67, the Fox Noirs, and Sopranos S5 on my list. Hopefully Costco will have the 3 pack of Noirs like they did for the first wave. Sam's Club is selling all 5 seasons of Sopranos for $59.xx each. My Sam's sometimes lowers prices if the local Costco is selling something for the same price so I may wait a day or two.

Ok, found the coupons. 10 coupons at the back of an otherwise mostly useless book: $3 off one of: Gladiator Extended Edition, Saving Private Ryan 2 pack, Collateral, Anchorman Unrated, Bourne Supremacy, Van Helsing, Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison 2 pack, Scarface Anniversary Edition, Miami Vice 1st season, Animal House Double Secret Probation. (Note, I suspect that Gladiator listed is really the current disk out based on what the coupon says) $5 off when you buy 2 of following collector editions: I-Robot, Day after Tomorrow, Man on Fire, Alien Resurrection, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Die Hard, The Commitments, Fight Club, Moulin Rouge, Independence Day, Planet of the Apes (newer movie I believe), Cast Away, The Abyss $5 off any 1 of: Three's Company Season 4, Createst American Hero Season 2, Sledgehammer S2 $10 off Monty Python's Circus Set 1 $10 off Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy or Extended Edition Trilogy $5 off 2 or $10 off 3 of: Kill Bill vol 1 or 2, National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rookie, Gone in 60 seconds SE, Coyote Ugly SE, Sling Blade SE, Father of the Bridge SE $10 off the Godfather Collectors set or Indiana Jones Complete series $5 off when you buy both WWE The Greatest Wrestling Stars of the '80s and The Road Warriors: The Life and Death of the Most Dominant Tag Team in Wrestling History (I can't believe I just typed those two out) $5 off any 1 of following anime dvds: Appleseed SE, Tenjho Tenge 1: Round 1, Daphne in the Brillian Blue Vol 2, Hellsing1: Impure Souls, Gungraveo: Erosion, Paranoia Agen 4: Sayanara Morami, or Samurai Champloo $10 off 1 of the following: Spider-Man 2 Collector's Edition, Blackhawk Down Deluxe Edition, Dark Crystal Box Set, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Labyrinth Collector's Edition box set or (same coupon as above) $3 off any one of the following 4 packs: Will Smith 4-pack, Brad Pitt 4-pack, Jack Nicholson 4-pack, or Tom Hanks 4-pack Mike, if you're very luck, and beg and grovel appropriately, maybe your store will give you one of these books. Anyone buying the new SE's this week should probably check out the $5 off 2 or $10 off 3 coupon, coupled with BB's price on those makes for a pretty good deal. Not sure most of the others are all that great. (Oh, and check your coupons carefully before relying on what I typed, no guarantees I didn't screw anything up).

No problem Mike! I just happened to stumble across it myself. Other than Alien Nation, looks like just ST:CE and WW Season 3 for me this week.

Should "Matilda" be on the round-up? Isn't it going to be MAR only? They gave John Lovitz an SNL best of set. That's good, I always thought he was an underrated performer on SNL. I'll bet there will be some crossover with the Tom Hanks set though. Didn't they appear in alot of the same sketches together when Hanks was the host.

Actually Alien Nation has been out for awhile. I've had my copy since April 2001. Looks like a re-release with a price drop.

Speaking of price drops. The new pricing on the original "Outer Limits" series Seasons 1 & 2 goes into effect on 6/7/2005 w/ a new list price of $54.96. Preordered mine at Amazon for $38.47 each.

Otherwise it's ST:Insurrection SE & Sopranos season 5 for me this week.

Thanks Mike.Posted Image Posted Image
