Finally! Woody Allen is my favorite director, and I the only director that I own everything he's done (except Manhattan Murder Mystery - I'm waiting for that Columbia price drop that I've been waiting forever for). Melinda and Melinda didn't play in my small city so I haven't caught it yet, and Match Point has me really excited.

I own a few more Woody Allens on VHS but have yet to watch them: THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO (1985), RADIO DAYS (1987) and MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY (1993). I'm always meaning to rent some of his later stuff on DVD but, somehow, it never happens:frowning:!
It's difficult to say whether Ingmar Bergman's influence on Woody's career was beneficial or detrimental in the long run, but it's safe to say that I prefer his earlier "lighter" films to his subsequent "mature" work. The fact that the top 4 spots in my list are not occupied by any of the former, however, is because I feel that in those 4 films he managed to create a perfect balance between the two sides of his cinematic personality.
