BILLY WILDER (so far he's got a perfect score from me. batting a thousand!)

One, Two, Three (1961) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - Love it, one of my all time favorite comedies!
The Apartment (1960) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - One of the greatest films ever made, number three in my opinion.
Some Like It Hot (1959) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - So perfect and brilliant it's hard to believe it really exists
Witness for the Prosecution (1957) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - God he was an incredible writer and director, the visual and verbal complementary ways of telling a story, particularly in this mystery, are just astonishing.
Sunset Blvd. (1950) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - An amazing film to watch.
Double Indemnity (1944) - Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image - but... but... but... Fred McMurray is a nice guy, right?

RANKING:

I don't care for modern films. All crashing cars and close-ups of people's feet.

This guy's amazing. I've seen four of these and loved each one. This makes them difficult to rank of course, but here we go.

Wilder is easily my favorite filmmaker. This is due more to his writing more than his directing (His style is somewhat invisible), but that's what he strove for.

You should also check out Nobody's Perfect.

I own it, but haven't read it yet.Posted Image My most recent acquisition is a book released by Taschen simply called "Billy Wilder". It's an absolutely fantastic book filled with rare behind the scenes photos that I've never seen in any other book. If you have any serious interest in Wilder, I highly reccomend checking it out.
