The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

The Appeal

And now a word from our sponsor….

If anyone who reads the RoundUp is not aware of this, running the HTF is not free for Parker and Ron. That is why there is advertising throughout the forum and there has been the occasional membership fund drive. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you folks of all the different reasons we benefit from keeping the USS HTF afloat. But, you might not be aware…THERE IS AN EASY WAY FOR YOU TO HELP!

According to Ron & Parker, many members enter the HTF through the index page or by clicking their own shortcut directly into a favorite forum. If members would simply link to the Portal Page when they start their visit to the HTF, that act alone would bring revenue to the forum. While it would also be nice if you wanted to click on some of the advertisers’ links and check out their deals and sales (that form of “window shopping” would bring even more revenue to the forum), the simple act of landing on the portal page registers a “hit” or “impression” that creates revenue for the HTF.

I was unaware of this until recently and have since changed my desktop shortcuts on the different computers I use to link to the Portal Page. I bet doing that over the past week or so has resulted in several dozen more “hits” from me alone. And, I thought I would pass along my newly-gained knowledge to anyone else who might not know the score.

So, if you want to help out, its easy…and will help keep the HTF in business.

Whoo-Hoo - Now I can get candy to go with my Market Pantry Sparkling water.

Thanks as always Mike and Patrick.

Meet the Fockers and House of Flying Daggers (blind buy) for me this week. Disappointing pricing on HoFD - was hoping for the $14.xx range - maybe Wal-Mart will come through.

Well I normally would probably pick up the seven volume of MST3K (even so the price for it at Circuit City is twenty dollars more then they normally charge for the new release  ), but I need to get parts for my new laptop instead. Thanks for the round up Mike.

Hmm...I was considering waiting on House of Flying Daggers until it hits pre-viewed racks, but the Best Buy deal is making me reconsider. I already have Crouching Tiger though, otherwise it'd be a done deal.

Thanks as always.

Thanks as usual Mike.

I'm still uncertain how I'm going to approach the Errol Flynn titles. I don't like Dodge City, and haven't seen Essex or They Died with Their Boots on, though both are on my TIVO, and I'll check them out before Tuesday.

I'll definitely be buying:

Captain Blood
The Sea Hawk
Meet the Fockers

I had Good Neighbors seasons 1-3 marked down for this date as well, but see that it's been pushed back to June 14. :frowning:

I noticed My Man Godfrey in the roundup, but considering I already have the Criterion, and that this new release is so cheap, it doesn't seem likely to be an improvement, though it's a great film.

DVD Beaver did a comparison, and although the new version is mostly for the colorized print, they fiind that the provided black and white version is almost as good as the Criterion. Not any reason for an upgrade, but for $10, if you aren't interested in the extras (and don't mind buying a set with a colorized version) it's a pretty good deal.

I would have picked up Miracles this week, but Shout Factory wasn't able to acquire the widescreen masters from Touchstone/ABC. Not completely a "No OAR, No Sale" situation, but close enough for me to pass. My wallet is happy though.

Thanks Mike.

I'll be supporting Warners by picking up the Errol Flynn collection. Nothing else is remotely interesting to me.

I just finally decided to do that very thing with WB's Classic Musicals set. I already had Easter Parade (fortunately still sealed!) sitting on my shelf and was going to pull the trigger on Band Wagon...so, I decided instead to spend the exra few dollars to get the entire set and enjoy some other musicals with which I was not that familiar.

Some Deep Discount DVD prices:

MST3K Vol. 7: $35.88
Four Feathers: $9.12
My Man Godfrey: $4.99

For $5, I think I have to try the Godfrey disc, even though I hate to "support" colorized versions. The B&W comparisons posted at the link above do indeed seem quite close to Criterion. Certainly miles ahead of Madacy.

The usual thanks and praise to Mike!
