There are many classics that are yet unavailable on DVD or the version is too old (like a 1997 released DVD). Here are some of the movies that are still MIA on DVD

1.The African Queen
2.The Jazz Singer
3.King Kong (Coming out in November, Hooray!:))
4.Top Hat (Coming Out in 2005?)
5.Swing Time (Coming Out in 2005?)
6.Letter From an Unknown Woman
7.The Magnificent Ambersons
8.Ninotchka (Is Garbo coming out this year:confused: ?)
9.The Big Parade (80th Anniversary this year!)
10.Greed (What??? It lost the DVD Desicion last year?!?)

Here is another one of DVD that I think are in a desperate need for a second chance:

1.The Maltese Falcon (2-Disc SE for this one?)
2.Bonnie and Clyde (The 1997 version is too old)
3.Double Indemnity (OK, is this really going to come out in 2007???)
4.A Streetcar Named Desire (2-Disc SE?)
5.Stagecoach (Can't even find this on eBay!)
6.Network (Is there really a 30th anniversary set coming next year?)
7.Wuthering Heights (I heard MGM owns the rights. The DVD from HBO is OOP)
8.The Wild Bunch (I heard this one has a 2-Disc SE coming out next year)
9.The Searchers (For sure coming out in 2006 for its 50th anniversary)
10.An American in Paris (Also a 2006 release)
11.Blade Runner (Seen countless requests on the movie's 3-Disc release)

I'd like to see some more Gable, like SAN FRANCISCO.

Also A TALE OF TWO CITIES (the Ronald Colman one).

Ya know, I wish already Universal would take care of this so I could stop posting it in threads like this....... :D

1973 Best Picture - The Sting

Its the only Best Picture winner of the past 50 years still not released in its OAR. There was a 1998 full frame release.

I'd love to see King Vidor's "The Crowd" finally get a DVD release. How about "Raise the Red Lantern?"

W.C. Fields is still sorely underrepresented on DVD, including some of his funniest films, NEVER GIVE A SUCKER AN EVEN BREAK, THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY, and MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE. And of course, there's still DAVID COPPERFIELD.

Well documented is the fact that the rest of the world has jaw-droppingly beautiful restorations of the great Laurel & Hardy talkies, unavailable in the U.S.

Max Fleischer's brilliant BETTY BOOP cartoons are available in a boxed set in France, but not in the U.S. Where, oh where, is Popeye the Sailorman?

Not quite classics, but such popular 1950s cult titles as WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST, HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER, and EARTH VS. THE SPIDER are only available in England, and I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, INVASION OF THE SAUCER-MEN, and NOT OF THIS EARTH aren't available anywhere.

Where are the Bowery Boys?

Where are the fun Republic serials, including SPY SMASHER, DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE, and what seems to be a direct inspiration for Indiana Jones, SECRET SERVICE IN DARKEST AFRICA?

Where is DONDI? ("Not okay me looking at pretty Christmas tree, Mr. G.I. Buddy?")

Where are the Karloff/Lugosi films THE RAVEN, THE BLACK CAT, and THE INVISIBLE RAY?

All the Kubrick movies should have an S.E.
I'd like to see LAST TANGO IN PARIS and THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING as S.Es, and a new SE of THE KING OF COMEDY to bring it into line with the other Scorsese / DeNiro titles.

Breakfast At Tiffany's is in desperate need of an SE- if both Roman Holiday and Sabrina were both released as SEs, why not the film that had Audrey Hepburn's most famous character, Holly Golightly???

Ditto on RAISE THE RED LANTERN! I guess it must be a rights issue, since this release seems like a no-brainer when you consider how popular director Yimou has become.

Adding:

FOOTLIGHT PARADE
THE GANG'S ALL HERE
GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933
BABY FACE (restored)
THE CATERED AFFAIR
VALLEY OF THE DOLLS
BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS

Does anyone know if there's an issue with African Queen? I've been waiting since the birth of this format for this film. Why has it taken so long to bring this out? It's on AFI's 100 list so there must be a reason why we haven't seen it yet.
