Directed by Michael Bay (sound of your mouse closing the window):

I'll be seeing it. It looks like this may be another "The Rock," the only Bay movie that many Bay haters can stand to watch.

I don't think it looks much like "The Rock" at all. Looks like a high-concept SF piece similar to "Minority Report".

Wether it actually has depth, that's another question. Posted Image

I do have to say that this is probably the most interested I've been in a Bay film since "The Rock".

Looks far less like Minority Report and far more like "The Matrix" and "Dark City."

The trailer pretty much tells you that anything we see before they "wake up" is fake, thus robbing some of the film of tension and impact.

Looks slick and well produced, but we'll see if the story is any good. Bay's record, for me, is spotty at best. There are solid actors involved in this, but that's certainly no guarantee of quality.

I didn't say it was going to be like "The Rock" in terms of story, but in terms of more mass appeal.

Looks pretty interesting, and I've always been a fan of Bay's work. Visually, it is always exciting. Posted Image

Bay's new film and it even comes with a decent cast. Looks like a fairly decent sci-fi action film. I'm one of the few who enjoy his films and look forward to this. It'll be a must purchase dvd, not sure if I'll trek to the theater for it though.

Bay can certainly frame shots. This film does have a stellar cast, though. Bean, Hounsou, Buscemi; plus the two leads are incredible.

I will also state that Scarlett looks scorching in this.

I'll definitely see this one,

The plot of The Island sounds VERY similar to an earlier film called "Parts: The Clonus Horror" , which should be familiar to Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans (it was featured in one of their episodes).

FYI, Clonus has just been released to DVD.

If Michael Bay would have made this after The Rock and Bad Boys, I would be pumped up. But after the last three shitburgers (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys II) he made, I'm thinking meh. If I have nothing else to do that weekend, I'll go see it.

This is the first Michael Bay film that I can honestly say looks good to me. I'll check it out unless the consensus reaction is "avoid at all costs".

"And now the reprimand, from an American critic. He reproaches me for using film as a sacred & lasting medium, like a painting or a book. He does not believe that filmmaking is an inferior art, but he believes, and quite rightly, that a reel goes quickly, that the public are looking above all for relaxation, that film is fragile and that it is pretentious to express the power of one's soul by such ephemeral and delicate means, that Charlie Chaplin's or Buster Keaton's first films can only be seen on very rare and badly spoiled prints. I add that the cinema is making daily progress and that eventually films that we consider marvelous today will soon be forgotten because of new dimensions & colour. This is true. But for 4 weeks this film [The Blood of a Poet] has been shown to audiences that have been so attentive, so eager & so warm, that I wonder after all there is not an anonymous public who are looking for more than relaxation in the cinema." - Jean Cocteau, 1932

Looks great to me. Kind of a Matrix/Logans Run feel to it.

WHen I saw the trailer before the Star Wars movie, at first I thought it was a Logan's Run remake.

Yeah, when I first heard about it my response was "Hey a Clonus remake" sounds a lot like it.

I saw the one minute preview for it during Adult Swim on Cartoon Network last night (they aired it twice). Looks good.

There is an interesting article at Dark Horizons:

Visual Effects by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM).

Should be cool to look at no matter the script anyways.
