I currently have a Pioneer 1014 receiver I got for $340

with Bose 201 IV's for mains, a 7 year old JBL Flix 1

center, and TINY JBL's for surrounds..

I like the new receiver...

I am looking at Klipsch speakers figuring to start with

mains and a center. Two candidates for the mains so far

are the RB-25's or the RF-15's. The center is going to be

a RC-25. I have been able to hear the RB-25's and the

RF-25's but not the RF-15's. I thought the RF-25's

sounded a little "boomy" compared with the bookshelves.

Sorry about the technical word "boomy".

My room is small with a Sony 32" HDTV about 7' from my recliner's vewing

position. Aside from my Tonkinese Cat Merlin, I live

alone so the small "sweet spot" I keep hearing about with

Klipsch's is no problemo. Merlins viewing is confined to

a couple of Couch Potato Kitty DVD's while I am at work

These speakers are going to have to do for both music and

movies. I like just about everything but Rap. I have been

told the RF-15's would give me a fuller sound but not a

"boomy" as the RF-25's.

I figure that if I got the RB-25's I could add a sub when

I saved up the dinero. I hope to get the RB-25's for $220

a pair and the RC-25 for $150. The RF-15's would cost me

about $110 a pair more than the RB-25's.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Cnet gave the RF-15's a good review. There main criticism was lack of bass. Is there a sub in your future? I think either set of speakers would benifit from a sub to capture the low end. You will have plenty of power for the Klipsch speakers so I would get the RB25's and spend the $110 on the Parts express Tiny Mighty Sub. A very good sub for the money from what I hear.

Well if I go with the RB-25's I figured to get the RC-25 at the same time and then add a sub later. Thanks for the sub suggestion. I haven't even started thinking about them yet.

Greg,

is this the sub you are talking about?

I have been running RF-15's for a little over a month now..

I like em - but they are a little "brite" on the higher frequencies.. I have to echo what I have read many times before..

Only you can judge any speaker.. Listening habits are different..

If you have a chance too listen to other speakers, do it.. If I had the chance again I probably would go with the RF-35's.. to me they sound "wider" and have better range.. But due to room size I had to go with the 15's

The Klipsch Reference line really shows its strengths starting with the 35 series and up...

My center channel is a RC-35 and it really does a great Job on movies..

If you do go with the RF-15's, make sure you get a good subwoofer..

I just picked up a 20-39 PCi and it really made a huge difference!

I've got the RF-15's, RC-25, and RS-25's and I really enjoy their sound. I'm running them with a Denon AVR-1905. The 15's are a bit weak on bass (not really weak--just in comparison to some more expensive models), but I've got a Paradigm 10" sub along with them, and that helps them out quite a bit. I'm not sure how Klipsch sounds with a Pioneer (I've heard they do sound a bit "brighter" with some brands), but Denon does an excellent job with this line. To echo Lyle, be sure and listen before you buy--and make sure especially that you listen to them on the same model of receiver that you have. It really does make a difference.
