Whew, this movie business is tough. I might just have to go back to loan-sharking for a while to get some vacation.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! I Heart Huckabees is available in both a 1-disc and 2-disc (SE) version...get the correct one.

Also, in THIS THREAD, Gord Lacey tells us that even though the Stripperella discs say "uncensored" in the title, they are, indeed, quite censored...and out of order.

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--Both Best Buy and Circuit City are offering on their copies of the Get Shorty SE a bonus on-pack movie ticket for the Get Shorty sequel Be Cool in theaters Friday, March 4 (value up to $10.50) At Best Buy, minimum 14 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is also offering deals on the season sets of South Park. Buy 2, Save $10. Buy all 5, save $75! Seasons 1, 2 & 5 = $29.99 apiece. Seasons 3 & 4 = $39.99 apiece. If you buy all five sets… $30+$30+$40+$40+$30=$170. $170-$75=$95 for the five South Park season sets. $95/5=$19.00 per set! That’s an excellent deal! Posted Image Math courtesy of Frezon Lousy Math, Inc.

--Best Buy is also offering 10% off any regular priced anime DVD with the purchase of any one of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, The Cat Returns, or Porco Rosso.

Looks like the B&M will sell it at list price. At least the list price is cheap. Would you bargain with your pontiff? Posted Image

All right, Dennis & George:

Lets see how much interest there is on the ol' Weekly RoundUp this week for The Agony and the Ecstasy and Twentieth Century.

There's actually quite a few interesting catalog titles seeing a release this week. But, I hope those two are appreciated by the gang here.

Thanks, as always, Mike. I had not heard of that Nat. Geo. Tsunami disc. After seeing it in your post I searched for info on it, and found out DDD has it for just $9.58 shipped - more than 50% off MSRP! I'll have to pick that one up. Other than that, it's Heat SE and South Park S5 for me this week.

Just Heat this week for me. I'm a bit disappointed that there are no deals with the other Michael Mann films like The Insider and Collateral (for instance, buy Heat and Collateral togther for $30 Posted Image )

Bryan: If you haven't picked up Collateral yet, I got my 2-discer in the Previously-Viewed deal at my local Hollywood Video as part of their 3/$30 promotion. I was quite impressed with Jamie Foxx' performance. Posted Image

But I like your idea of the 2/$30 deal. Maybe BB & CC will consider it in future weeks! Posted Image

Big, HUGE week for me. Got Agony And The Ecstasy coming from DVD Empire for about 6 fitty shipped. Best Buy will be getting all the rest of my money this week, as they have the best prices on everything else I want: Heat SE, Get Shorty SE, the 3 Miyazakis, "South Park" S5 & "Shield" S3.

Thanks again for the Roundup, Mike!

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

Well after picking up some television dvds last week, I will return to getting a new release this week. I never seen Get Shorty or Heat, but I might pick them up (of course half the time I say this, I end up getting something else). Thanks for the roundup Mike, who I bet would rather buy a new dvd then pay the water bill. Posted Image

Thanks for the RoundUp Mike. As always, good stuff.

Nothing for me this week. Maybe Heat, but seeing as how I've never seen it, I'll probably skip it this time around.

This will be the first week nothing came out that I wanted to buy. I quite like the feeling...

Lets see how much interest there is on the ol' Weekly RoundUp this week for The Agony and the Ecstasy and Twentieth Century.
Oh, I fully expect to be the only one buying Twentieth Century. No matter how great this film is, you can't expect that hardly anyone here as seen it, which is a shame, so it won't surprise me at all to see it underappreciated. But my excitement at having this finally be released on dvd and into my grubby little hands should be equal to the cumulative excitement of the group about big titles in other weeks. Posted Image This is the best thing to be released on dvd since the Palm Beach Story, another underappreciated classic.

Never picked up 24: Season Three, so I will jump on the Target bandwagon this week!

If the Tsunami DVD is the same as what was on the Nat Geo channel a few week back, it is an excellent documentary! Too often you hear of natural disasters and can't quite comprehend what it was like.

The last few weeks have been really slow for me. My wallet is breathing a sigh of relief....Posted Image
