Anyone get so tired of seeing a commercial that they actually change the channel?

I refuse to watch any gameshow live, because I'm tired of seeing commercials for the 60 or older crowd. If I see Winford Brimley again, I flip the channel, because I have it almost memorized :).

Anyone else have a hated commercial?

There's a local one for lawyer around here that I hate. I forget the lawyer's name at the moment, but they made the commercial look like the opening credits of a cop or lawyer show. It's quite annoying.

Anything that from Ditech.com or Enzite. It annoying hearing "I lost another loan to Ditech.com" or "Bob has gained a new set of confience" over and over! Only other annoying ones are just anything that mentions the product being "low carb".

Thanks to my TiVo, this isn't usually a problem. Unfortunately, I have developed a love for watching high definition football in real-time, a hobby which brings with it the same five ads over and over again:
a. Levitra
b. Cialis
c. Viagra
d. Beer

Seriously. No more ads for boner medication. Please!

Personally, I found all the 'boner pill' ads during last year's Super Bowl more offensive then all the boobies in the world.

Don't know if this counts, but I HATE anything with the Global station ID's (Canadians know what I mean). Global is a news company up here that owns at least one station in every major town in the country. It buys programming from the states and rebroadcasts it, including a stupid ad when they come back from EVERY commercial, featuring their news, or some CRAPPY canadian tv show like Train48 or something. During football games, these get added to an annoying little 15 second spot that shows some little generic stadium with the ad banners removed from the stadium facing, and replaced with some crappy ad for Canadian Tire or Pizza Pizza or something. I HATE GLOBAL with a passion! Thank god for my Shaw HD PVR!

Those stupid ads from Miller Lite with the referrees giving out penalties for drinking Bud. Doesn't make sense. Wasn't funny. Budweiser's response were alot funnier and made more sense than the original commercials.

Oh man, where to start! They don't really show these anymore (thank God) but those freaking Erbal Esscence shampoo commercials where they show women reaching orgasm by using their product!

The tagline is "Erbal Esscence. For a totally organic exerience."

First off, it's ORGANIC not ORGASMIC!

And second, if shampoo made a person feel that way, i'd never stop washing my hair! :) Not to mention that they could charge a hell of a lot more money than 5 bucks or whatever it costs.

I also hate those 'Geiko' insurance commercials that fool you into thinking that their infomercials about hair loss or something. I don't appreciate being tricked. They think that they're being terribly clever, but in actuality those commercials make me want to NOT buy insurance from them. :)

And of course, the infamous 'cockroach-on-the-screen' one, I think it was for Orkin or RAID. The first time I saw that I almost put a steel toe boot through my screen because I thought there was a bug on it!

I'm sure Andy Kaufman would have loved that one though. :) They never show that one anymore either.

And finally, any commercial where you see someone obviously reading from either a teleprompter or cue cards because you can see their eyes darting back and forth. I saw one where someone asked "What do you want out of your life?" I replied "What I want out of life is for people to memorize their lines if they're going to do a commercial."

For me it has to be that commerical for Vonage ip phones where they show the kid throwing the bat through the window, then play that song that annoys me to no end.

I second Ditech and Enzite. Hey--how about combining the two? Can you imagine that obnoxious lender guy with a big boost of confidence?

I gotta admit one I still like: that mild-mannered guy for Sprint PCS...

Cowpoke: "I ordered 200 oxen, and all we got were these weiner dogs."

Spokesman: "200 Dachshund. It's the static."

All those spots still make me laugh!:D

-Anything with the annoying beeps of a Nextel walkie talkie. When I get to Hell, it's going to be full of random Nextel beeps.

-Any fast food commercial.

-America Online. Once again, people inventing things to complain about. Your digital pictures disappeared? Take real ones, woman!

-Some of the beer ads.

Actually, all ads are invasive and irritating, and I try to either mute the TV or not be in the room when they're on.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those America Online commercials...

Julia Roberts,
"At America Online, we believe in offering our customers..."

"OUR customers"?!?!

What's the matter Julia, the film business not working out so you decided to go work for America Online?

The AOL commercials right now.. they are repeated so damn often..

And the Irritable Bowl Syndrome commercials with women with chalk on their stomachs. Repeated ad nauseum.

One last one: the new Pepto commercials where everyone breaks out dancing "nausia, heartburn, diahrea.. Yeah! pepto bismal!"

How many people start jumping up and down with joy at the suggestion of those symptoms?

What do you mean, Chris? I break out dancing at that at random all the time, mostly in restaraunts.

And you mean i'm the only one who jumps up and down at the prospect of an on-coming gastro-intestinal event?

;)

Seriously, what world do these people live in? The people who make these commercials I mean. How could they be so out of touch with how people are in real life!?

One more from the AOL commercial...

Julia Roberts,
"Most people are just asking for a computer virus..."

Um, Julia, pardon me but i'm not asking for shit alright.

Heh, minor thing to mention here. I think they stole that video from Sagets Americas Funniest Home Videos. Wonder if they can do that? :)

I dunno, that one made me laugh the first time I saw it :).

I also like those Viking bits with the credit card. The longer 1 minute spots are great fun :).
