I was at The Digital Bits the other night, and they reported that Mel Brooks's "High Anxiety" will be streeting March 29th. No specs are announced yet, but now I can breathe a sigh of relief as the title has now been announced (This was not in the Rumor Mill. This was on the main page.)

Anybody else looking forward to this, or am I alone?

No Nicholas, you are not alone! Finally I can retire my P&S laserdisc copy which had barely passable video quality. I wonder if there will be any supplements?

I got it! I got it! I got it! .... I don't got it. :)

My best friend will be VERY excited about this. I don't think I'll tell him until I get the DVD. I did that too him once before when The Big Bus hit DVD. He had NO idea it was coming, and I passed it to him in a pile of junk - he browsed the discs and almost had a heart attack when TBB (one of his favorites) stared up at him. Hope he misses the announcements so I can shock him again!

Not alone at all. I grew up on these famous Mel Brooks movies. Especially Young Frankenstein & High Anxiety. What made High Anxiety so popular in our home was our love of Hitchcock so the spoofs just worked that much better.

We still quote High Anxiety all the time when we're together for holidays etc...

One of my favorite lines is when Thorndike (Brooks) asks Harvey Corman what the rate of patient recovery is?...Corman pauses a bit...does some calculating....takes out his cigar and says, "once in a blue moon". :D

Another one was, "je....jea.....jeans"....You're wearing jeans? I bet their tight. :D This exchange is occuring while a man is being killed.

I hope this means that 1976's Silent Movie is also on its way(unless it's already forthcoming and I've been out of the loop).

I don't want to say more than I
am supposed to, but Fox has always
had an interest in bringout out their
entire Mel Brooks library to DVD.

In fact, it would have happened sooner
if not for some last-minute developements
that put a delay on their release.

I would almost guarantee that you will
all see your favorite Fox Mel Brooks films
on DVD in the near future.

I saw this on TCM awhile back, in OAR for the first time since 1977. It looked restored so I figured the DVD was imminent. Been waiting for this one for ages.

"Number one or... cocky-doody?" :D

High Anxiety, whenever you're near...
High Anxiety, it's you that I fear.
My heart's afraid to fly. It's crashed before.
But then you take my hand, and my heart starts to soar,
Once morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre

High Aniety, it's always the same....
High Anxiety, it's you that I blame.
It's very clear to me....I've got to give in.
High Anxiety.

YOUUUUU

WIN!

Wouldn't you know it ... The Digital Bits is reporting today that Fox's Mel Brooks promotions are "delayed indefinitely." Darn, not only was I waiting for this, but a remastered anamorphic version of History of the World Part 1.

History of the World Part 1 was recently on HD Net (or In HD - I forget which), and it looked incredibly good. Nice to see there's a kick-butt HD transfer to go from.

I saw a bit of History of the World on INHD, and the problem is that it was cropped. Like the sign in the beginning of the Roman Empire sequence of "Annual Orgy and Buffet: First Served, First Come" (love that joke :)), I think half of it was chopped off. It was a 2.35:1 movie, and INHD just chopped it down to 16X9 1.78:1. In the P&S VHS, it panned over so you could see the whole sign.
