Best Tragic Love Story on DVD (1 Viewer)

It doesn't have to be love all the way, I would classify Requiem for a Dream as a tragic love story.

I am starting research for writing my next script for my next film project and am thinking that a tragic love story would be perfect since there will be no budget and will have limited locations. (and my current project is more...not a love story)

A tragic love story fits the bill!!!
Drama, tugs on heart strings, tragedy, what more could you ask for?

Message in a Bottle? You've got this guy who's wife died and he's been broken up about it for years. He finally lets down his guard when he meets this new chick and really starts to learn to love again. Things are going well for the two of them, then at the end of the movie.........he dies. Pretty tragic.

Very good titles!
I have a few of them such as Vertigo and Moulin Rouge as well!!

I also thought of Ladyhawke, well although it isn't tragic in the ending, they were living in tragic circumstances until it was fixed.

of all these, Lady Jane fits the bill most closely, and i would highly reccommend it- but they all have some element of what you are asking for, and all are 4-5 star films

Spidey 1, natch.

Our hero's uncle (and father figure) dies, and it turns out our hero could have prevented it.
Our hero's best friend's father goes mad, and our hero has to kill him.
Our hero finally realizes that the beautiful and geographically convenient girl he has painfully shyly always adored actually shares the same feelings for him, but he has to give her up for his carreer. (Since very few of us haven't personally experienced this, the connection to the audience is widespread and deep.)

Of course, the tragedy is reversed in Spidey 2, but that is another story.
