NHT Model 2 tower speakers (1 Viewer)

My dad got these free at work almost 3 years ago now. Apparently the mids had blown out some time during the both speakers' life and the owner stuck in some oversized speakers (yuck). They're from 1990 or something. Anybody know any details about these speakers?





I need to find some replacement mids ASAP :thumbsdown:

I would send an e-mail to NHT and ask how much a replacment driver costs. You cant really effectivly use a differnt midrange than the orignal. The crossovers were designed for that specific driver that used to be in there.

Most NHT speakers have a label on the back with the model Number or name and sometimes the date made. Just by the pictures they are probably these:

Model 2
1988 - 1990
1" + 6.5" + 2 x 6.5"
40Hz - 22kHz
8 ohms
87dB
35W - 200W

But could also be these:
Model 1.8
1991 - 1992
1" + 6.5" + 2 x 6.5"
43Hz - 22kHz
8 ohms
87dB
35W - 200W

Or these:
Model 2.3
1991 - 1992
1" + 6.5" + 2 x 6.5"
35Hz - 25kHz
4 ohms
86dB
40W - 200W

There are a few more models made around 1993 that they could be also. Here is a link to a good site for NHT models and specs.

NHT directed me to this company called AB Tech so I could obtain replacements. They don't have the original part number, but they said they have matching replacements for $45 a pop. supposedly they have the same specs as the original and the only difference is cosmetic.

They don't have any pictures... I hate buying stuff blindly, should I trust these guys?

Yeah, I'd probably trust them. The drivers can't look worse than what you have now!:D
