I want to know which has the better DACs so I can know if I should buy analog or digital cables. I have a Sony DA5ES that I use as a pre/pro and I'm looking at the Sony C2000ES CD/SACD player.

Thanks!

James

james- The DA5es contains 3 pairs of Burr-Brown 1704's I think. Do a search at AVS, for extensive review and comparisons between this receiver and the DA4es also the TAE-9000 pre-amp. Good Luck

Jack,

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to verify if the 5ES does use 1704s. It doesn't say anything in my manual though. From what I have read the 1704 was highly regarded when it came out in 1998. Do you know what kind of DACs the 2000ES has? I'm having a hard time tracking down a thread at AVS that lists this stuff.

James- Sorry don't know anything about the 2000es.
My assumption would be that the DAC's in the player should be used over the 5ES since some sort of optimization was probably engineered for performance in two channel and MC audio.
