I've seen in several posts how people have calculated different things for their HT. (ie. Distance from screen, screen size, placement of speakers...) Where can I look to find this information. I've done some searches but I must not be looking for the right thing or I don't know what I'm looking for.

Some projector companies (like Infocus) have projector calculators on their site. if you are gettin a non-infocus projector, you will need to get the lens throw for the model you are interested in and edit their spreadsheet to get accurate results. Here is a sample:
