This used to be a helluva good country. I can't understand what's gone wrong with it.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE CAREFUL! The Alamo AND Club Dread NR AND Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are all available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one. Super Size Me is available in two different versions...a PG-13 “theatrical” release and a censored PG “family” release -- get the one that’s right for you. Posted Image

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--The two-disc SE of Easy Rider is being widely advertised as coming with a CD soundtrack and a book from the British Film Institute of an in-depth look at the film.

--Best Buy is offering a deal in which you can save $10 if you buy both Season 1 ($35.99) AND Season 2 ($29.99) of In Living Color. $36 + $30 = $66. $66 - $10 = $56. $56/2 = $28 apiece.

--If there’s anyone who did NOT get their copy of the Star Wars Trilogy last week…Circuit City is advertising an in-store price of $49.99. bestbuy.com is still showing $42.99. BJs Wholesale Club is steady at $43.49. I’m sure there are a number of stores who will remain in that range.

--There are at least 16 total prices that are different this week (lower) in the Best Buy and Circuit City flyers than prices posted at bestbuy.com or circuitcity.com. The on-line sites continue to be less and less reliable for what the in-store price will be. This week's grid price for Star Trek Voyager: Season 4 at Circuit City, for example, is from their website. I would suspect their in-store price will actually be lower. But, it was not listed in their Sunday flyer.

Absolutely, positively nothing at all. But from here on, it's going to be expensive, especially next week with Aladdin, Deep Impact and Farscape.

Thanks Mike!

Doesn't Star Trek Generations officially come out this Tuesday (after being recalled a few weeks ago for a packaging error)?

Somehow Tess snuck up on me....I had forgotten that it was coming out. Sounds like the limited edition comes with a paperback copy of the Hardy novel. A copy of Helter Skelter would have been more appropriate. Looks like Costco won't stock it, probably Fry's won't either... Posted Image

Thank you for the concise and in-depth review, as per usual. Keep up the good work.

I'm thinking about ordering Sunshine, albeit if I can manage to find a better price than those listed. DDD, pull through for me...

(And yes, ST: Generations does come out Tuesday, at least according to DDD's website.)

Wow, are we starting to see the disappearance of the loss-leader (though even at $15.99 they aren't technically losses)? Very few new titles are coming in at discounted prices on this list. Walking tall is priced low, but Eternal Sunshine and Supersize Me are $19.99 everywhere...
