I just received yesterday the Walking Tall dvd (With the Rock) and inside was the following ad:

Coming Soon! the new Rocky DVD Anthology includes High Definition transfers of all 5 Rocky Films! on DVD December 14, 2004!

Sounds like good news! Has anyone heard any more details? Nothing else was said in the ad.

Seriously? Wow, I am kinda surprised, but then again, the current set is not that great really. Being a Rocky nut since I was a kid though, I have enjoyed them very much. That training montage in 4 is great! Posted Image I would gladly double dip on this. Maybe this explains why the current has been so cheap around town lately...

Will this box set only include 1-4?

A new set sounds good, I passed on the first, I will try to pick this one up.

I heard a rumor that Stallone was working on a final Rocky film. But who knows if it will happen, perhaps this is holding it up Rocky Lawsuit just do a search on rocky lawsuit and you'll find a number of articles about it, or maybe his movie about the murder of Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace and Tupac Amaru Shakur. Either way, the box set sounds great. any word on the audio portion of the Rocky set, (i.e. 5.1, dts, thx)

It would be nice to have anamorphic transfers of 2 and 4, but I doubt they could really improve upon the first one.

Actually there's been an anamorphic version of Rocky IV available for some time. The version released seperately from the boxset last year features an anamorphically-enhanced version.

Yup. That release of IV is anamorphic and has the fixed Russian subtitles too. I picked it up last year to replace the one in my set. Man, I just love Rocky IV...maybe because it was the first one I ever saw. Not a great movie, but loads of fun watching it!

No mention on specs! just the High Def transfer is mentioned. I am also surprised we have not heard anything yet, fingers crossed we'll get a great package!

I'm well aware the box set will include all 5. It was a joke implying Rocky V sucks so I shouldn't have to pay for it.

Whoa! So we're really getting extras for ALL the films this time, including commentaries?! Damn.. guess I'll be double dipping too if that's the case. I just find it hard to believe that they're actually making the effort of recording commentaries for all 5 films this time. That would be cool though. Imagine if they got Mr. T to participate in the commentary for Rocky 3. How cool and hilarious would that be? Posted Image

I knew there was a reason I held off on the previous releases!
