The National Post was mentioning a marriage, but we haven't seen Smithers with a "significant other", although Lenny and Carl are usually always together, and Lenny is definitely fond of Carl, thus my speculation.

It doesn't really even matter, since the show's not always consistant. Just because you'd GUESS someone... doesn't really mean that's even who they're considering.

It will either be Lenny or Carl.

Lisa - had a crush on a boy in one episode. (can't remember who)
Patty and Selma - like Richard Dean Anderson.
Moe - dated some girl (can't remember who)
Milhouse - likes Lisa to much
Ralph - I'm not to sure about him. I knew he liked Lisa in one ep but it didn't go very far.
Milhouse's mom - likes to many guys
Milhouse's dad - I not sure about him to.
Willie - Not sure
Skinner - Likes Edna
Apu - Married?
Smithers - way to obvious
Burns - has a son
The Doctor - I think he's married
Professor Frink - Not sure about him

Anybody else? I can't remember all of their names.

All of which means nothing. Lots of homosexual persons have dated and had crushes on the opposite sex, some even marry and have children. Doesn't mean they can't get sick of living the lie after awhile.

I read on another message board that either Selma or Patty was in a "staying in the closet" float in a gay pride parade in one of the episodes, along with Smithers. They were not shown except for their sleeves and voices. So maybe one of the sisters...
