An eagle-eyed poster at CCF spotted this one:

WOW! I never thought that Tanner '88 would make to DVD at all, let alone from Criterion!

This will probably be a 3-disc set with extra features, I presume?

I hope this includes the new material shot this year. Michael Murphy, Pamela Reed and Cynthia Nixon did introductory segments (in character, of course) to introduce each episode of the original series. These aired as part of The Sundance Channel's broadcast of Tanner in the spring. They were hilarious!

Altman is currently shooting "sequel" episodes (4, I believe) dealing with an effort by students at the university where Tanner now teaches to draft him as a candidate in the current race. These are scheduled to air on Sundance in the fall.

Great news. I have the old Criterion laserdiscs and have been waiting for Criterion to put out the DVD. No extras on those but, as mentioned, they did shoot some for the recent Sundance channel airing.

I honestly believe that TANNER 88 is Altman's best work.

woo hoo, the #1 DVD company comes through again, I wonder if this will open up more possibilities of Altman and Fox on Criterion and the crucial Secret Honor hopefully with present day interviews
