Self-explanatory title...

One report I read says that there might be a re-release to theaters. Another report says the DVD might possibly be out in September or October (R1).

Any new news?

It's out the 28th September David, with the SRP being $29.98. Only other details I have right now is that it will receive a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, English DTS 5.1 Surround and French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks.

Fantastic movie. Can't wait for the DVD. Jim Carrey at his best.

Although it's far too much to ever hope for...but a Kaufman, or a Gondry, or a Carrey/Winslett commentary would be splendiferous. In any combination. All. One. Two. I just want some sort of commentary on a Kaufman movie!

Excellent News! I wanted to see this one a second time but before I could, it was gone. I would love a commentary track on this one also and for and MSRP of $30, it better include some extras.

I'd be fairly happy with some deleted scenes, like

scenes of Joel's relationship with Naomi

and perhaps the trailer and the Lacuna commercials.

i can't say that i like the UK-based artwork very much compared to the simpler US-based artwork, but hey, at least the heads are in boxes, and not floating around like Milo & Otis or something...

Because the theatrical poster is so hard to use...

ARGH!
Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.

p.s.

"A smart, sexy and seriously funny comedy!"

wha??!?!?

that like the back of the box for 'American Psycho', calling the film a "sexy thriller". i almost fell over laughing reading that one.

Oi...film studios should run preliminary cover art by US...right here, in this forum. There are no bigger fans of DVDs...we should be pandered to. We should be the ones to reject or aprove cover art. We should be the ones who inform the studios of what kind of extras a film deserves. Because, looking at most of my DVDs...I'd have done a lot of rejecting.

I don't hate the cover art but that quote doesn't seem to fit the film. If I were going to do it I would remove the quote and put the title in its place. I never understand the use of quotes on a box. Like someone is going to walk by and see that random quote and decide to buy the film because of it. No, thats not how it works. If someone wants to see the film they will regardless of quotes, etc. But of course thats why I don't work at a film studio.

That cover art is one of the worst I have ever seen. Universal often changes the artwork so hopefully it isn't final.

What a shocker, another hideous piece of art from Universal Focus.

$20 says the Canadian version will have the oridinal art, ala Far From Heaven, Pianist, Lost in Translation, ect.

Great news on the DVD! Definitely gonna pick it up. The best film of 2004 so far.

I wouldn't count on it, since the other Kaufman DVDs (Malkovich, Adaptation) didn't have many extras.

That cover looks hideous though. I wish they used one of the theatrical posters. Ah well.
