Here's my situation. I want to buy a 26-27 inch LCD TV for our kitchen. I want to get the best bang for my hard earned dollar... I see the terms WXGA SXGA and XGA tossed around a lot and have tried to get the resoulutions for these terms set in my mind...with very little success. So far I've seen that WXGA can be any resolution from 1024X768 up to and including 1366X768..which is a pretty wide spread. Since 1280X720 is the minimum resolution accepted for HD....the WXGA designation seems to bridge between Enhanced definition and high definition.

One set I'm considering is the JVC LT-26WX84 (Internet sites prices at $1899) ...some sites I've visited for information on this model list it as a 1280X768 WXGA set while others list it as a 1024X768 WXGA set.....very confusing to person looking for some uniformity in specifications.

Other sets I'm considering are the Maxent 27" 1280X720 set at Costco for $1799 and the Gateway 26" set 1280X768 at Gateway for $1999

Would appreciate any information and or suggestions regarding these LCD sets.

XGA - 1024x768
WXGA - 1280x720 or 1366x768 (wide XGA FYI as it is a 16x9 aspect ratio)
SXGA - 1280x1024

Thanks for the info Neil. Based on what you said..I suppose an LCD with 1280 X 768 would be considered WXGA.

Thanks again Posted Image

If that is the native resolution then yes, wide XGA it is.
