LOTR Motion Picture TrilogyTrilogy includes: Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return of the King.

Larry Cohen Collection includes: Q: Winged Serpent, God Told Me To, Bone.

WWII Collection includes: Price for Peace, Shooting War, Saving Private Ryan (D-Day Edition) and a collectible book.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

Big RoundUp this week everybody. Lots more titles than usual--one, in particular, large in itself.

If any title you are interested in is missing, please check around and post your results here to help out (rather than complain about it missing). Read the fine print! Posted Image

Some great releases this week, along with some great prices!

As usual, Thanks Mike.

I'll be waiting on ROTK until the extended version comes along. So this week I'll be getting

Frasier season 3
Cheers season 3
Winds of War (I bought War & Remebrance God knows how long ago, but haven't watched it since I've been waiting for this)

Normally this would seem like a pretty big week, but sandwiched between last week and next, it's pretty minor. Posted Image

Mike,

I have a question about a possible typo.

You've got both Cheers and Frasier $34.99 at CC, but for Best Buy Cheers is $34.99 and Frasier is $39.99. It seems odd that they'd price those differently, but maybe so.

It does seem odd, George. But (as our old friend Walter Cronkite used to say), that's the way it is.....

Wow. The first time in months I am buying a new release.
I'll end up doing what I've done with the entire LOTR trilogy. Buy the 2 disc, when the EE comes out give the 2 disc to my friend.
At 15.99 it just makes sense to buy it instead of renting.
Gimme da cashhh!!

Fox must have changed the release date for The Enemy Below about a dozen times, and this has caused lots of confusion among the various retailers. DVDPriceSearch lists it as "out" already. I got mine in a 2-DVD package with Sink The Bismark for $13.99 - last week. Is there really a definative release date for this title? Posted Image

Does anyone else find it strange that the LOTR:BoxSet costs more than the buying the individual disks everywhere (or at least everywhere I've checked)? OK, so some places the difference is only a few cents, but some places it's around $5 more. So you're paying $5 to get an ugly box.... I thought the whole idea behind box sets was to entice people to buy more than they might otherwise by making the combined cost attractive. Otherwise, what's the point?
OK, that's the end of my question/rant Posted Image

BTW, anyone have any idea what on earth this is: FOTR & TTT? It looks like just a packaged LOTR:FOTR TE and LOTR:TTT TE, but is priced at $70! That's more like the price I'd pay for the 3 EE's together. Oh, and it's in the General Horror section, but I'll chalk that up to it being directed by PJ.

I'm glad this is the last week of May. It's been a killer month for me - perhaps my most expensive DVD month ever.

This week it's "Buffy", "Cheers", "Northern Exposure", "The Winds Of War", the SPR WWII box, Wizards, the 2 Criterions... oh yeah, and that little flick that picked up a few Oscars back in February.

Gotta love the Target deal. Buy some batteries (I always need batteries) and walk out with RotK & popcorn for 10 bucks. Hell, that's cheaper than seeing it in the theater a few months ago. Somebody's gotta be losing money on that deal.

I also want Bubba Ho-Tep, but I'll wait for the inevitable MGM price reduction in about 6 months or so.

Thanks for all your hard work, Mike. Posted Image

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

Big week!
ROTK
Bubba Ho-Tep
Buffy S6
Fox HK Wave 3
Slaughterhouse 5
Stray Dog
Underworld DC.
What I end up with may vary wildly, but that's what I want.

Is there much difference with the new SPR release?

I would get the sixth season of Buffy this week, but I am saving up money for a television in my new room, so I going to hold off on it. Once that task is done, I will get that, Invander Zim, the rest of the Treasure sets, and anything else that comes out during this time.
I need a new signature.
