A fine idea Steve. My first thought I already know pushes the envolope, so I will not nominate Citizen Kane. I’m happy to have you toss any of my noms that don’t fit your definition.

Vertigo

Touch of Evil
—often called the greatest ‘B’ movie ever made—personally I put it on the ‘A’ list.

The Cabinet of Dr. Calagri—toss this if you don’t think it a mystry.

Chinatown

Not sure about Caligari as my memory of it is too foggy (I've had the DVD for ages but haven't gotten around to watching it). Perhaps someone else can chime in on it.

I'm nominating the 1959 version of The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I just got the new DVDs of the The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the 1939 The Hound of the Baskervilles - I'm gonna watch 'em today after I take my mommy out for a belated Mother's Day dinner. :)

Edit: also nominating The Third Man. :)

My main reason for not nominating this was that I would not have wanted to be responsible for you not having the privilege.

Second:

The Third Man

I’ll also withdraw my nomination of The Cabinet of Dr. Calagari, as when I think about it, any mystery is beside the point.

Nominate:

High and Low

Justin, I'm going to ixnay Paradise Lost - I'd rather stick to fictional films.

Some good, offbeat choices (Picnic at Hanging Rock), though I'm surprised at the lack of more traditional mystery flicks.

Nominating:

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Murder By Death
Sleuth

Everyone who's participated thus far can have four more noms, secs, and thirds. :)
