It's that time of year again.
I have a riding mower (8hp Bolens) with an electric starter that needs a battery. My previous mower also had electric start with a battery. This weekend I brought the battery up from the basement, put it back in the mower and connected it to a charger. Well, the darn thing would not charge up enough to start the mower. I had to jumper my car battery to start it and hope it didn't stall while I was mowing the lawn.
I'm not sure, but I think the battery is only 2 or 3 years old- can't find the receipt. I store it inside during the Winter. My charger has a 2 AMP and 10 AMP setting. I had it set for 10 AMP initially in order to charge quickly.
How long do these things last by your experience? Got any secrets for long battery life or a brand of battery you can recommend?
