Can someone tell me why when I try to open wmp i get a window that has a "g" in the message body and the same for the window title and thats it? I have the option of clicking OK or Cancel. I took a chance on clicking OK and it says the system must be restarted to complete the installation?! Any ideas?

i'll assume this is similar to something we saw a while back. Immediately do a virus scan and a spyware scan. we had a lot of people get a vx32.better installation that kept re-infecting wmp that seems very similar to what you are saying.

VX32 is a spyware program that infects (monitors) Windows Media Player to insert it's own radio streams/ads/popups.

Normally Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.de/ will remove it.

VX32.Better installs without your knowledge or consent.
