Still hoping for THE LITTLE RASCALS boxed set VOLUME 2 (1 Viewer)

Nobody has really given the proper treatment
to the original LITTLE RASCALS shorts
on DVD.
Many people may know that Cabin Fever released
two extensive VHS boxed sets with over 80 shorts
spread out amongst them.
A little known secret is that Cabin Fever released
the first VHS boxed set on DVD about three years ago.
It was region 1, and you could buy it through
Canadian mail-order. It was a DVD boxed set of 6
discs/24 shorts. All were hosted by Leonard Maltin.
Before Cabin Fever could get the second boxed
set out, the company went out of business.
Some of you may still be able to find prints of
first DVD boxed set out there.
To think we came this close to having BOTH boxed
sets of Little Rascals shorts.
I spoke to Leonard Maltin in person a year ago
and he said that no company is looking into releasing
these shorts at this time.
It's a real shame that nobody is taking an interest
in getting The Little Rascals out on DVD.

I also find this extremely disappointing, as I have been a big Rascals fan ever since my childhood. I finally broke down earlier this year and bought both boxsets on VHS. I found a great deal on Ebay ($75 for both including S/H). So far I have been pretty happy with the presentation, although I'm sure the DVDs would have been better.

I have two different box sets of Little Rascals on DVD, but I am at work and cannot remember the name of them, I picked them up at Best Buy.

who put out those boxed sets.
I have the CABIN FEVER DVD boxed set #1.
To my knowledge, they never put out a second
boxed set.

eBay has up for bid a bunch of box sets with 6 DVD's inside consisting of 48 shorts. These shorts are the same ones in the laser box sets, volumes 1 and 2, introduced by Maltin. The only thing is they are Region Free! Hope that helps.

I've got a boxed set of the Little Rascals put out by Goodtimes. 4 DVDs with 3 episodes each on them.

Ron, if you look at the history of Little Rascals releases (VHS/LD), the rights and distribution has bounced all over the map from one small company to the next.
I'm sure the Little Rascals will continue to appear on DVD, and from someone else.
Funny thing is, I had all 4 LD box sets, and none of those touched on all the Little Rascals (or 'Our Gang' for purists) episodes available. The very early episodes (including the silent versions) are real treasures that are damn near impossible to find, particularly on VHS (I'm glad I have most). I wish Maltin would cover these earlier episodes as well (his book is great, I highly recommend it).

Just did a search on EBAY.
All that is available is the 6-disc set
(volumes 1-12).
This is the FIRST HALF of the VHS sets.
It is not complete.
Cabin Fever released a 2nd VHS set (volumes 13-21)
that have NOT been released to DVD. In fact,
volume 21 contains the banned Rascals shorts
that were deemed too racist.

I just bought on eBay the laser boxes of "The Little Rascals" volumes 1 and 2, totaling 48 shorts. You mean they released 96 shorts on VHS? Wow!

Does the Cabin Fever box contain any of the silents?
What ever happened with Hallmark? They put out the first disc of the Cabin Fever set, then nothing.

Yes, Cabin Fever released somewhere in the area
of 84 episodes on VHS. I can still find them
in New York City.
There was a 12-tape set with 4 episodes each
(set #1) and a 9-tape set (set #2) with 4
episodes each.
A few silents were also included.
I don't know if the laserdisc set had all the
episodes that were on VHS.
About two years ago, Cabin Fever was
planning to release ALL the episodes that were
on VHS to DVD. Only the first 6-disc set of 48
episodes ever made it to the DVD format. Cabin
Fever went out of business soon after.
There are still 36 episodes unaccounted for.
Hallmark did release (I think) just 1 or 2
DVDs. They never followed up with any future
releases.

The box set I have is two discs and they were put out by Brentwood Home Video. They contain 9 episodes, with biographies and a documentary. upc code 9009698929 for use with DVD Profiler.

Ron, the 6 disc set you speak of was available last Christmas at my local Wal Mart locations. It was priced at $49.99 (CND) and I did not buy it but should have.
I have not seen it anywhere since, but the singles are floating around. As far as a second set, I have not seen one.
Ms. Crabtree was hot, I'd have to agree with Jackie.

I just have to say,
the image quality of the cabin fever L.R. DVDs is amazing. B&W film translates to DVD so beautifully...and there isn't much in the way of "video" artifacts like aliasing or too much filtering. On the big-screen it's really like being in a 1930s movie house! (remember...these things were filmed to look good on the big screen...they weren't "made for TV")
The image on these DVDs is clear, and high-resolution. I'd really love to get them all. I bought mine last year when I read a thread on this forum about Cabin Fever going out of business. I bought my box set through deepdvddiscount.com. Maybe they have some left?
Let's hope for the future to get the rest!

I got lucky and found four of the six Cabin Fever dvds at my local K Mart for $4 each. This was about a year ago. I love them with all my heart and hope that someone picks them up for rerelease. As AMC is airing them now, perhaps interest will be high enough to warrant it.

What I don't understand is why AMC edits a lot of the content from The Little Rascals. I thought they were interested in film preservation? I guess what they mean is, film preservation on their terms.
Thanks to the first DVD box set, I can now see what I've been missing all these years.

I remember seeing many of the silents (with an annoying running commentary from two children) on television when I was a teenager. The series was re-named "Mischief Makers", but it was really just the very oldest of the Little Rascals silents. Anyone else remember this?
