Right now I wonder about how the series will surface on DVD. The versions in syndication are different than as the network run. The more familiar Latin-styled theme song was not used until 1990, but is on all episodes (on Toon Disney and all others that showed it once it was syndicated). And only 72 out of 121 half-hours are available in syndication. Any inside info on whether the original theme for the first 2 seasons will be reinstated on those episodes? And compilations or season sets?

My guess is this is a test to see how the season sets would do otherwise they would have released the Halloween and Christmas specials first because that would probably sell the best.

Garfield Goes Town was always one of my favorites and I'm glad it is finally coming to DVD.

Isn't that kind of pointless? Say you have an episode on this release that ends up in the first season that they decide to release. Then you have two of the same episode on two different DVDs.

If I understand correctly, the DVD that is coming out does not contain ANY episodes from Garfield and Friends. It contains three of the Garfield tv specials.

Well, this is a good enough start for me, lets hope this leads to more Garfield goodness in the future, like the Christmas specials and of course the TV show.

Link Removed has a report that the garfield cartoons tv specials coming to dvd.

Fox will debut Garfield on DVD on 06/29 with Garfield as Himself. The disc, selling for $14.98, will house a 75-minute program (in full frame with mono audio) along with 3 bonus episodes (Here Comes Garfield, Garfield on the Town, and Garfield Gets a Life).

I'm disappointed that they aren't producing a complete set of the 11 TV specials - although by the looks of things they may have chosen the three that have the most resemblance to the film's plot and shoved them on an intermediate release before the proper one... well, that's what I'm hoping for anyway...

I'm not as anxious about the TV series - it was never as good as the specials and I really wasn't much of a fan of Orson's Farm (or US Acres as it's known in America). I will of course buy series boxsets if they are released, however... :D

I disagree, I think that the quality of the television show was levels above that of the tv specials with the 3 exceptions being those of holiday theme - Christmas, Halloween & Thanksgiving.

I think the way Fox is chosing to compile these specials onto DVD is terrific and affordable, plus aside from the holiday themed releases, it would only take another 1-2 discs in order to finnish these off!

I can't wait to get my hands on this, and I'm anxiously awaiting the series season sets even more!!!

That would be great.

If anyone from FOX is reading this though, I just want all 3 holiday specials released on one disc!

Hopefully the incredibly Terrible-looking Live-Action movie will spawn good things by stirring enough interest that the Studios will release G&F Series DVD. I have been e-mailing Paws Inc. for many years asking about these releases.

I think it terms of quality, Garfield On The Town has to be held in the same class as the holiday specials because despite watching that a handful of times when I was younger, I still remember it really well. It was a great story worth revisiting.
