Interesting list Jon, not sure why you spoilered it.
Vito Corleone number one, okay, played by two actors Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro, hmmm I would have chosen Michael Corleone instead, a great story arc running thru three movies and powerfully played by Al Pacino.

btw where's Tony Montana?

ps. James Bond 007 should be number one IMO.:emoji_thumbsup:

Some good choices, and not surprisingly for a list like this, some horrible ones.

I despise Scarlett O'Hara, but I can at least understand why she's on this list. But Annie Hall? There are far more interesting female characters from romantic comedies than her. Hell, she's basically a foil for Woody Allen's character in that movie. She gets #6 and (unless I missed it) no Woody Allen character even made the list?

I am equally puzzled by Annie Hall, what the hell is so remarkable about her?! And I love the movie.

About Blondie, I would have put Tuco instead, methinks he made the movie.

Steve, Tony Montana is on the list.

WTF? Harry Lime at 93?

I also question the ranking of Annie Hall. And where the hell is HAL?

Underneath Dr. Strangelove but on top of Norma Rae.;)

The Vito Corleone role is specific to Brando. I agree that Michael C. should be on there as well. Shoot, even Fredo belongs.

I don't think they should have included the likes of Gollum, E.T., and King Kong (although, since they did choose to include non-humanoids, HAL absolutely belongs).

Yeah, I gotta think there were characters more worthy of inclusion than Kevin McCallister. For example, no Superman?

Hello, Darth Vader #84? What's up with him not being in the top 10? Is Jeff Spicoli really a better character than Darth Vader?

Also, where was Han Solo?

I would have liked to see Frank the Tank on there as well.

Kaiser Soze I thought he'd make the list.

edit: Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger or any of the Bond villains for that matter.

No Martin Riggs, Marty McFly, Emmett "Doc" Brown, Roger Rabbit, Ariel, or David St. Hubbins?

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

What about Tess McGill, Matty Walker, Clark Griswold or Snow White? Don't they count?

He's in there, #46

Would have thought that Snake Plissken and Tyler Durden might have made viable candidates. Bill Foster (Falling Down) would have made a good addition had the film not made him legitamely crazy by the end.

How about Dr. Peter Venkman or Vincent LaGuardia Gambini?

I would even go as far as to say the T-Rex from Jurassic Park.

I wasn't so much contesting Kevin McCallister as I was surprised they thought to include him. Home Alone is an iconic film moment for an entire generation that came of age in the nineties--and it still holds up as very fun viewing, though it must be seen with the fam, preferably with youngsters that haven't seen it a bajillion times (cause I watched it a lot when I was little).

I'd have Atticus Finch Number 1, the AFI got that dead right. :) and Where's Han Solo? Not to mention Luke.

Annie Hall though is something of an odd choice, she's a great character, but number 8?
