Woo Hoo!!

Any compression of the release schedule, even by only 2-3 months, is a VERY good sign.

Oh yes, one more thing:

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.
* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.
* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

A few months earlier than expected!!! Not perfect, but definitely a step in the right direction. If they can continue to make that gap a bit smaller between sets, I'll definitely be happy. Only 3 months to wait!! I can live with that. Posted Image

Is there a chance the track could bend?

"And now the reprimand, from an American critic. He reproaches me for using film as a sacred & lasting medium, like a painting or a book. He does not believe that filmmaking is an inferior art, but he believes, and quite rightly, that a reel goes quickly, that the public are looking above all for relaxation, that film is fragile and that it is pretentious to express the power of one's soul by such ephemeral and delicate means, that Charlie Chaplin's or Buster Keaton's first films can only be seen on very rare and badly spoiled prints. I add that the cinema is making daily progress and that eventually films that we consider marvelous today will soon be forgotten because of new dimensions & colour. This is true. But for 4 weeks this film [The Blood of a Poet] has been shown to audiences that have been so attentive, so eager & so warm, that I wonder after all there is not an anonymous public who are looking for more than relaxation in the cinema." - Jean Cocteau, 1932

My enthusiasm for Simpsons boxsets has dropped significantly.....it's ridiculous that FOX releases them roughly once a year. By the time they get through this series, we'll be on to another format...maybe two formats beyond that. Why can't they be coming as fast as their Futurama boxsets?

My rant is over.....it's really frustrating to be a Simpsons fan when it comes to DVD.Posted Image

^ At least he's up front about it (in a facetious way, but still). But today we have GOOD NEWS, so I won't let that be spoiled. And, hey, only 10 months between releases. Excited for the Monorail, Mr. Plow, Itchy & Scratchy Land (and The Movie), and Kamp Krusty. Woo hoo! May/June are getting crowded with must-buy DVDs.

Well it is certainly encouraging news. I like that supposedly this set will finally include deleted scenes. However, I hate to shed doubt on Gord's news, but wasn't the propective release date for season 2 for the May-June time frame as well? And that did not end up coming out until August. Hopefully it's for real this time.

While I don't recall the rumored date for season 2, the difference in this case is that the official press release announces a June release. It's not like some rumored date that leaked out. So I think you can put your fears to rest. Posted Image
