This list... is an absolute good. The list is life. All around its margins lies the gulf.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. Look, Dave has a lovely wife and a five-year-old son that he is spending time with. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave does!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart prices in the standard Roundup: Wal-Mart sets prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart location. When it comes to Wal-Mart prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE CAREFUL! Schindler’s List is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one.

--Amazon is still featuring free shipping on orders over $25. Restrictions apply.

--Best Buy is offering a “bonus collectible pictorial book capturing memorable images from the film” with Schindler’s List this week. Minimum 50 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is offering deals on Futurama sets. Volumes 1 & 3 are available for $29.99 each. Volume 2 is available for $39.99. However, if you buy Volumes 1 or 2 with Volume 3 you can save $10. If you buy all three Volumes, save $20.

--Best Buy is also offering a deal on Mona Lisa Smile. If you buy Mona Lisa Smile ($17.99) with My Best Friend’s Wedding (14.99) you can get them for “2 for $25”…or $12.50 each. (So, Frezon's Lousy Math, Inc. computes an original total price for the 2 of $32.98 minus a savings of $7.98 to the sale price of $25.)

--Best Buy is also offering…with “ANY entertainment software purchase”…a FREE Sneak Peek DVD which includes a 10 minute featurette of Hellboy (due for a 4/2/04 release). It also includes “theater trailers for Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil: Apocalypse and more.” Minimum 480 per store. No rainchecks. Offer varies online.

--Target is having an interesting sale this week on Friends season sets. Seasons 1 & 2 are $27.99 each. Seasons 3 – 6 are $34.99 each. But, if you buy a “Friends DVD Party Pack for $29.99 you can “Save $10 on any Friends DVD complete season. Quantity limited. No rain checks. See Party Pack for details.” The flyer says the party pack includes “a DVD/CD-ROM with party-themed Friends episodes and Friends E-vite, plus a music CD, Central Perk coffee, collectible tray and more.”

--And, if you happen to be wondering if K-Mart is advertising any low prices on any of this week’s new releases, their Sunday flyer shows only Mona Lisa Smile for $19.99.

Does anyone know of a lower price online for the new MST3K set than Amazon? I've checked a bunch of the usual suspects, but I've picked these up in the past primarily from Deep Discount DVD and Overstock, neither of whom seem to be carrying the new one.

Adam, if you can manage to hold off, your best bet is to try to contact DDD about MST3K, as I'm sure they have or eventually will have it. Probably just some sort of listing error. Absolute best place to get the MST3K collection. They'll probably have it for $35-39!

Futurama (via Amazon w/Share the Love) and Schindler's List (B&M) for me this week. Finally -- a week with some must-own titles comes along!

Another great early roundup!Posted Image

Schindler's List for me. I'm usually a sucker for Limited Editions, but the price discrepancy between the normal and special editions here is just too much, considering there's not much new content on the LE.

Dawn of the Dead seems a bit like an "everyday" price - nothing to rush out for. Makes it a bit easier for those of us who are wondering if they should just wait for the "Loaded for Bear" edition down the road.

I received an advance copy of Schindler's List & can't say enough good things about the picture quality & the DTS. As if the film itslef wasn't great on its own, the presentation is top-notch.

The Best Buy flyer posts those words over the "regular" version of the DVD.

"Low Price" is how the Target flyer lists the price for this week. This is a common gambit for stores who promise to price-match against similar stores. Target.com lists Schindler's at $18.89 I would suspect the B&M price to be below that. Unless someone's got a mole inside Target, we'll find out on Tuesday.

I am guessing we'll see some amazing prices at Wal-Marts this week, too!
