If the information being reported to this
forum is true, the following Jerry Lewis
titles are being released to R2 later this year....

November 1st

Nutty Professor SE
The Bellboy
Cinderfella
Ladies Man (Jerry Lewis)
The Patsy
Errand Boy

These are amongst the very best Jerry Lewis films
ever made. I am so friggin' happy that Paramount
is putting out the cream-of-the-crop when it comes
to Jerry Lewis fare. If you are a fan of the man,
this is outstanding stuff!

Now, I would go out on a limb to presume that
if these films are coming out R2, they will also
be released R1. After all, Paramount had every
intention of getting these titles out to U.S. markets
all along, but was waiting on cooperation from
Mr. Lewis himself.

Since Jerry only recently got out of treatment for an addiction to a steroid-type drug (he's lost 30 pounds, btw), it will probably be a while before he signs off on them. The last I heard (and I think this was from Digital Bits), that the American releases will surface next year.

Heck, we've waited this long; what's another few months! Maybe if we're lucky, Paramount will release those classic Dean & Jerry movies around the same time.

P.S.-Little dissappointed The Disorderly Orderly and Rock A Bye Baby aren't on the list, but those titles Ron listed are a good start.....

Is R2 playable in France? I figure they'd get the titles first.

There's this weird HT symptom I've noticed with George Lucas and Jerry Lewis: they're both ambivalent about releasing their titles on DVD. Thing is that Lucas is finally cooperating(to a certain extent) by releasing the SE's on DVD in Sept. Lewis' movies will come after that at some point.

I guess I never thought I'd see the day when George Lucas' movies were more attainable than Jerry Lewis'. Just seems odd.

Oh well, I'm still enjoying my Don't Raise the Bridge DVD and I'll look forward to whatever else finally arrives in stores.

amazing that only one real lewis movie is on dvd at this point.
i grew up watching these on sunday afternoon tv.
usually it was a double feature on our abc affiliate i thnk.

Interesting choices. I really hope that it is just the first few drops before the flood...

Nice. The Nutty Professor is my favorite Jerry Lewis comedy, closely followed by the sublimely funny The Disorderly Orderly.

I second Randy Salas's wish that the Dean & Jerry comedies be released at some point as well. Thanks for the news about Jerry losing 30 pounds so far. Hope he continues to improve and look forward to seeing the "new" Jerry in September.

I loved Visit to a Small Planet when it was originally released. I don't know whether I've seen the movie since. I was, at that age, unpleasantly surprised by Gore Vidal's considerably more restrained (and, I must now admit, considerably superior) play, which would have been completely unsuitable for Lewis's talents.

Now Vidal has evolved, or devolved, of a supercilious anti-American, living in Italy and good riddance, even if I love some of his fictions. I hope he's remembered as the author of that great Jerry Lewis comedy Visit to a Small Planet.

The Errand Boy has some of the greatest (I am the only one who thinks this probably) scenes in cinema history.

I second the vote for The Geisha Boy, it's a great movie too.

Bryan,

I am with you, buddy.

Most of that film was shot on the Paramount lot.
There are some cool cameos.

However, the most sentimental moments come out
of a prop room where Lewis converses with a
pair of hand puppets. I love those scenes!

This is great news! I'm a big Jerry Lewis fan especially from his peak years of the early 60's. I will purchase anything he made during this time period, my 2 favorites (besides "Nutty") being The Disorderly Orderly & Who's Minding the Store.
