Wow, thanks for that link Dave! It's one of my favourite films of all time as well. Has June 6th been confirmed as the release date? The last time I checked the site, it still said "undetermined".

Well, I think it was Dvdfile that listed the 6th of June, but now when I checked another site they had December this year as the releasedate. So I guess the releasedate is still undetermined. Hopefully it will get released this year. It will probably sell out rather quickly so you will have to keep a sharp lookout for this release.

I was an LD collector. That price seems reasonable as long as the quality is a noticeable step up and those JP superbit covers are sooo preeetty.

It's just too bad that the last 20 mins or so will still look rough because the MPAA forced the filmmakers to de-saturate the color of red from the blood during the finale.
According to Michael Chapman (the Director of Photography) they tried to find the originol elements for a laserdisc transfer back in 1996, but they had since deteriorated. This according to the documentary from the R1 version. A dts track on this film sounds quite enticing however, regardless of what they can do with the transfer.

Both HMV.ja and Amazon.ja list it as "available to ship within 24 hours"

One said june 5 the other said June 22- so either way-

and yes-Japan is R2 NTSC....

dang!

Oh well. It IS one of my faves. A desert island disc.

And I can't even sell the old one to offset the $ because of the nifty doc.

:)
