Guys, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding this one, and here's some not so good news from PWInsider.com warning popups a plenty.

The best of confidential 2 DVD was postponed because of poor sales of volume 1, so if the Angle DVD is postponed it has to be for different reasons since there was no previous volume. I'll post more if I read it.

That sucks. Kurt's my absolute favorite wrestler these days. (Guerrero and Benoit are up there too).

I love the Best of Confidential 1 DVD. Wish it had sold more! :frowning:

The least they could do is issue that first Angle VHS as a budget DVD, and the Jericho video too!

And how about Guerrero? An Eddie disk would be great.

Chris, I was actually thinking about that idea regarding the Angle disc.

Releasing an Eddie disc now would make a lot of sense given his current status as champion. I'm glad they waited for his though, because now that they've got the ECW footage they can do it right.

A friend and I were talking about how they've been putting out such great discs lately and he asked me what I thought they'd be doing next. Outside of a Bret Hart two- or three-discer (which would TOTALLY rule) the first things that came to my mind were Eddie and Benoit sets.

Speaking of what they'll be doing next, you know I've just got to say a couple things.

1. Last night on PWInsider.com I read that the Wrestlemania DVD was scheduled for 4/27. Why I found this funny was because if 1 did a search for WWE in this section, you'd find a thread of mine from a couple months ago where I mentioned that the WWE would release Wrestlemania XX on 4/27, this thread came about in either late november or early december.

2. I've got some chit chatting on the reason why you don't see the Wrestlemanias on DVD as of now.

Basically, what the deal is, stems from a Jesse Ventura lawsuit against the WWF for use of his likeness on merchandise. See apparently for a time, WWF was selling all this murchandise and Ventura was all over it but not getting any royalties off of it. The courts ruled in his favor, and now for certain periods of time, I believe 1987-1990 if the WWF wants to use his commentary they have to pay the man. I'm also sure that this might have something to due with why his commentary is edited out of the WCW matches on the Foley and Austin DVD.
That's the short short form, and I'm probably leaving out a bunch of helpful information, but basically it is how to deal with the Ventura commentary that is a big reason the old Manias aren't out on disc. There could be more to it than that, but that's where it stood. I wish I knew my law better so I could try and explain this better, but I don't.

I'd love to point you to where this discussion took place, but it was at 411mania.com writer Scott Keith's personal weblog which saw its archives deleted, and then eventually he moved it to a different site.

I've given you the high points of the discussion though.

Steve, if/when the Benoit disc is announced, it will be the happiest day in internet wrestling fandom.

Casey,

Thanks for the info. The Jesse thing peeves big time becuase the missing commentary on the WCW footage of old is quite annoying. One thing comes to mind though ... I would think Jesse and the WWE have patched things up since he is being inducted into the Hall of Fame at WM20 but who knows. The size of Vince's wallet is only eclipsed by one thing ... HIS EGO!
