Forgive me if this is a dead thread. I tried to do a search, but that feature seems to be down.
What what the first dvd you owned?
I bought my first dvd player from Target in 98 and got 3 free. I chose:
Army of darkness
Fifth Element
Pulp fiction

I wish they would still give the movies away with new player purchases.

My collection stayed small for a while and just started growing in the last year or 2. up to 210 now.
just thought it would be fun to reminisce on your first dvd.

BTW
My first 3 have all been updated to SE or supperbit as the case may be. So i hope my originals are happy in someones collection.!

My first two DVDs I purchased before I even had a DVD player, but figured I could watch them on my laptop that had a DVD drive. The lucky finalists were:

2001: A Space Odyssey
Blade Runner

That was over 500 DVD purchases ago (including 100 seasons of TV)

First DVD (gift): The Matrix
First DVD purchased: Fight Club

Like Mike Williams, I had both of these before I had a proper DVD player.

i dont remember exactly, i THINK it was the big lebowski that i bought before i had a dvd player, and i got slap shot right after i got a dvd player in my computer. either way, i had about 50 dvds before i had a standalone dvd player. and i have about 180 now. my first criterion was rushmore, and that led to silence of the lambs, that led to about 40 more criterions :)

First DVD I ever bought, and I still don't know why it was this one, but the Greatest Moments in Superbowl history.

The first DVD my dad bought for the family was the Matrix. The first DVD(s) I bought myself was the Godfather Collection. That was the start of a downward spiral... ;P

Fight Club and then Resident Evil. Both are still my favorite movies.

Started collecting DVD's about 3 months ago and I'm up to about 35.

Gee, good question. I owned about 5 or 6 DVD's before I got a player as well.

Thinking about it I think "Ronin" and "TopGun" were my first DVD purchases. Infact I bought Ronin having never seen it in the cinema, and because I didn't own a DVD player. I ended up seeing Ronin in the cinema first, even though I owned the DVD. ( The DVD was available in the US before it was on the cinemas down under )

I was a member here ages before I bought a DVD player and HT setup.

Regards
