Given its history, it would have been nice to have a retro spective interview, but I am happy nonetheless.

Could we see a R1 SE in the not so far distant future ?

That's the single most pitiful attempt at a special edition I have ever seen, hands down. "New Synopsis"? Sorry, what? The prospect of "New CGI Menus" would be more enticing were it not that every single DVD menu that has ever existed is made up of, you guessed it, CGI. I'd hope VCI are going to put in a shade more effort than this when they finally release their own edition.

Agreed, Jon. That really is crap. Thing is, it's fine to just have a restored copy of the film. Why try to pass it off as this big Special Edition ? It's just insulting.

Oo, Commemorative Anniversary Packaging! What a way to give the fans what they've been waiting for!

R1's supposedly getting an SE that has Dan O'Bannon involved. Read about it here:

Side note: can anyone explain to me why O'Bannon and Carpenter hate each other?

I thought that the existing R1 DVD had two versions of the film. The "Special Edition" will have one version?

Last I heard, VCI still had some issues to deal with before going forward on a new DVD. I've e-mailed them tonight to see if any progress was made.
