"Have Gun - Will Travel" - Paladine roams on DVD (1 Viewer)

According to the latest 'Bits update, "Have Gun - Will Travel" will hit DVD on May 11 in a 6-disc season set, featuring all 39 first season episodes. From Paramount. That date will feature a slew of other western titles, including a handful of Gunsmoke TV movies. Can a season set for that series be far behind? Given that show's lengthy run, probably very far behind. But, that's for another thread.

I admittedly haven't watched much of this series, but I love westerns and will probably pick this up, if the price is right. I love these titles that are announced out of the blue. It makes things very exciting and gives me hope for other shows I haven't even considered. I'd love to see Cheyenne, for example.

And, for anyone unfamiliar with the show wondering how Paramount is going to squeeze 39 episodes on 6 discs (given the fact that the Star Trek sets have an average of 26 episodes on 7 discs, as an example), the show was a half-hour long. It ought to work out well enough.

I remember a little of Richard Boone in that show.

For me, it would be a case of wanting only one DVD with 6 of the Best episodes.

Hopefully, Vengeance Unlimited won't be far behind. "Have Gun-Will Travel" featured prominently in the show.

I've only seen a handful of episodes of Have Gun Will Travel and, while I didn't immediately love it as much as some other westerns, I'll definitely buy this to give it a better chance, and also because I'd love to see Paramount release at least some Gunsmoke season sets. Maybe we'll see some other western series come out if this sells well. I too would love to see Cheyenne get released, along with The Big Valley! This is great news!

I might take a chance on this if price is good. I have never seen this show but have always wanted to. Curious they chose to release a season set of this over Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke Season One I would have bought for sure but the 3 reunion movies they are releasing, no thanks.

DVDFile is quoting a $49.95 price for this.

Western fans will also be happy to know that MPI is releasing Volume 1 of one of my favorites "The Cisco Kid" in March. This will contain 20 episodes.

MPI has really improved their image with the recent Sherlock Holmes sets, which were superb.

Unfortunately, the Cisco Kid won't be in a season box. They jump around randomly.

I haven't seen The Cisco Kid, but maybe I should check it out! I, too, love western series and am hoping that Have Gun Will Travel does well enough for other series to come out. As for MPI, I have the two sets they did of The Rifleman, and I am really happy with the quality. Those too were in random order, but I'm still happy to at least have 40 episodes of the show.

Neither show had serial story lines, as far as I know, so it's certainly not a horrible thing that Cisco or Rifleman are not the full seasons.

Amazon is selling Have Gun for less than $35. At that price, this is a sure purchase.

Yes, I just pre-ordered mine from Amazon too! Deep Discount DVD has a picture up of the artwork too, which is pretty cool. Like I said before, I've only seen a few episodes but I love western series and I know I'll love it! I'm also really hoping that if this does well, that maybe we'll see some more western series released--I really want the first six seasons of Gunsmoke!!
