Hello,

I have begun to hear a hum coming out of my Speaker setup (in wall) while watching the TV. This usually happens after about 60 to 90 minutes the TV has been on.

I have disconnected the speaker wire leading from my receiver to the wall plate, yet the hum is still there. I have also turned off my subwoofer and the hum remains.

Can any of you shed some light on what could be causing this hum. I ran the speaker wires to intersect the electrical power wires at 90 degrees.

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi Miguel. Welcome to HTF!

Remember that having AC power wires near your speaker wires causes no problems - as long as there is no current flowing in the AC wires!

Since your problem happens 60-90 minutes after you start to watch TV, could:

- the dishwasher be running
- lights be turned on that were not before
- etc.

The other common source of humm is your CATV service. Try watching a tape or DVD if the humm starts up and while listening, disconnect the CATV feed. Does the humm stop? If so, call the CATV company.

Hope this helps.
