Straight from the official site..

>>Matt R. sent in this repsonse that he got from Artisan Home Entertainment regarding his inquiry about DVD releases of the orignal TMNT cartoon:

"Thank you for your letter expressing interest in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You will be happy to know that we are planning to release the original episodes on DVD in April 2004. Thank you again for your interest in Artisan Home Entertainment."
>>

Wether they are still releasing the edited pilot, or the complete pilot as the former was originally planned, is still up in the air. Anyone with Artisan Contacts who can help clear this up?

I would bet money that it's still the chopped together version of the first 5 episodes. I really wish Rhino had the rights to the series, Artisan is the worst studio out there and chances of season sets or any kind of reliable episode schedule are slim.

Out of interest, where can I find info what differences exist between the complete and edited pilot eps?
Cheers

Some more news from our roving reporter>>

>>
In my most recent letter to the project supervisor for the TMNT project at Artisan, she had this to tell me:

"Thank you for your interest. We will be releasing the first five episodes on DVD and VHS. The DVD will also include 4 never-seen episodes. If you have any additional questions, please let me know." >>

It's VERY interesting to see that there are MORE lost episodes, wich would bring the episode count to right around 200 shows. About a 100 short of the simpsons. And, it seems they finally heard our cry, and it seems we wil lbe getting the first five episodes uncut.

Good news indeed.

Good news but why didn't they just put the whole first season out like they did with Speed Racer? Hopefully this will be only 10 bucks because that's all I'm paying for it.

The first season is only 5 episodes. That's why it's being released like this. I don't know about the unaired episodes though. Unless they are the UK or Japanese versions of the show. And those are just horrifying. :)

Season 4: 39 Episodes
Season 5: 22 Episodes
Season 6: 16 Episodes
Season 7: 27 Episodes
Season 8: 8 Episodes
Season 9: 8 Episodes
Season 10: 8 Episodes

What was the difference between the UK and USA versions? I loved this show as a kid and remember it getting hassle because of its violent content! Also the ninji part was dropped and became "Hero". Seems Ninji was a violent word in 1980's britain. Thats thatcher for you...

Some more news. It seems we h ave our first picture of cover art. Although, the running time for this DVD has been expanded, wich would seem to confirm we are now getting the first five UN Edited episodes, it dosn't seem to include the rumored 4 NEW episodes.

According to DVD Empire, we are only getting TWO new episodes on this disc.

Here's the link..

I don't think they have the full specs yet. They're just guessing at the running time I bet. Since episodes at that time would run roughly 24 minutes without commercials. And at 92 minutes, there's no way they could fit 7 episodes. So we need to get a press release from Lion Gate/Artisan so we know what's going on. :)
