Was talking to my friend about this today, and I'm ashamed that I could only come up with two:

Scarface and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
"At least Kurosawa doesn't give his samurai hairstyles that make them look like drug dealers from some intergalactic trailer park, as Mr. Lucas did with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker."

Would Boromir's last stand vs. the Uruk-Hai count? If so, that gets my vote.

L.A. Confidential
Unforgiven

Of course this assumes that a last stand doesn't require the protagonist to die...

I think the ending to Abel Gance's Napoleon would qualify.

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to chew on this one a bit. There are a ton of good ones.

First that comes to mind is Leon (The Professional). I loved him popping out from above the door.

Then there is the fort scene in Starship Troopers. Big body count on that one (even though if they were bugs.)

The Matrix Revolutions might have been a letdown (at least for myself) but that defense of Zion was pretty intense.
