I posted this on AVS Forum a few weeks back, and decided to share it with you folks here as well.

After about 2 years of working on weekends/nights, my home theater is ready. My family helped a lot with the building, and I couldn't have done it without them. We did everything except the drywall and carpet.

I don't have a web page designed (yet) but I've linked in some pictures here. Also, since it's pretty dark in there, some of the images lack detail (especially the screen wall picture). Room dimensions are about 20'x12'x8', and it's located in our basement.

So here they are (paste as URL):

My equipment is as follows:

-Sony VPL-HS10 projector shining through Edmunds optical glass
-Atlantic Technology AT170 5.1 speaker system
-Sony Receiver (older model)
-JVC W-VHS high-def. VCR
-S.A. 3250HD high-def. cable box
-HTPC
-Middle Atlantic RSH Custom Rackmounts
-Dalite Hi-Power Permwall (92"x52") with Pro-Imager Vertical Masking System
-Bravo D1 DVD player
-Lutron 3104 Grafik Eye
-Berkline 099 seating
-Acoustical Solutions Custom Cut Wall Panels

The seating platform really can't be seen, but I've got louvered step lighting for safety/aesthetics.

Also, the screen wall has cutouts for LCR and Sub and the cavities are each lined with Insulshield. Also, the entire front wall is covered by IS, followed on top by GoM black fabric. The front wall looks completely stealth, so the speaker locations are totally hidden.

Finally, an IR receiver is located behind the front wall GoM, and this feeds the IR distribution block at the rear of the room in the equipment closet.

Please let me know what you think.

Yes, the panels are for sound absorption (they're actually light grey in color).

Thanks,
Dino

Great job. I added the http://[/url] before your links to make them active.

How far back do you have the Sony. Having the projector in the back wall is really cool.

Sweeeeet, I was blown away when I clicked on that first picture!

I just found a new design for the wall treatments I have been wanting to build. Care to give up the secrets on the constructions? Did you listen to the room with out and then with the treatments to see what difference it made. My room is alot like yours and I know I need wall treatment but have not done anything yet.

Thanks for the pics!

Thanks Parker. I bought a B-stock optional long throw lens for my HS10 for only $250 (compared to the $1500 list price!). This allows me to have the projector about 20' from a 92"x52" screen.

Wes, I wish I could take credit for building the panels, but I bought them from www.acousticalsolutions.com. They're called Alphasorb wall panels and they are 2" rigid fiberglass (probably Owens Corning 705 or 707 series) wrapped with Guilford of Maine acoustically transparent cloth. I did listen to the room before and after treatment and the difference is incredible.

The blue wall color is Ben Moore Kensington Blue. It's a dark smokey blue and looks great (I think) with the Ben Moore Sandstone grey trim.

Thanks again for the comments!

Awesome, Dino. Your HT is incredible. How long did it take to construct? Love the seats.

The room took over two years working mostly weekends and some nights. I had a lot of help from family to make this a reality.

Thanks,
Dino

The theater looks awsome! I am looking to do a similar set-up with the projector behind the glass panel. What kind of rack mount is the projector in and where did you get it? Thanks.

My dad actually made the projector mount for me. It's made out of 1" square aluminum tubing and allows for very precise alignment.

What is the throw range of your projector with the added long range lens?

I'm designing an HT that will be 22 feet from the back wall to the front wall and am looking for a projector that will work at that distance and still produce a minimum screen size of 92"x52".

Superb job, top shelf all the way.
