Can this be done? (1 Viewer)

I have the following items:

- A receiver
- A cable converter set top bx with coax output only
- A stereo TV with coax input only, no audio outputs
- A pair of speakers

I'd like to set this stuff up in my bedroom to get stereo sound through the speakers, but have no way to get the sound input to the receiver.

Is there a simple device that takes coax input and converts it to two-channel audio using RCA connectors?

What about an old VCR with coax input? Could I run coax from the wall to the cable box, then coax from the cable box to the VCR, then RCA cables from the VCR to the receiver?

P.S.

I'm trying to do this for little or no cost. I already have widescreen RP and good surround sytem in another room.

An old VCR would suffice. Your method seems fine unless you can use the VCR as a tuner instead of the cable box.

I used that method w/my cable box and VCR back in my old HTIB Pro Logic days and it worked great.
