Hi, I'm a newbie and am in the process of setting up a home theater system. I'd like to know if it is possible to connect the audio of a DVD Player to both a TV (via the RCA audio jacks) and a receiver (using a digital audio cable). I plan to connect the video directly to the TV via S-Video. The reason I might want to do this is that if my wife, who isn't the least bit interested in home theater, ever encounters some issue with the system, she can just turn off the receiver and watch the TV.

Thanks for your attention.

The short answer is yes. DVD players typically send both digital audio to the digital outputs and analog audio to the analog outputs.
